Just posting my poor experience with Pixmania. brief synopsis:

In August 2010 I purchased an Acer projector from them for around 600 euro. Paid an extra 48.80 for extended 3 year warranty. Long story short it stopped working nov 2011 so I processed a return, followed their instructions and returned the item. After about 2-3 weeks having not heard from them I contacted them and they claimed they never received it. cue a few weeks chasing around with An Post who claimed they delivered it and Pixmania who claimed they didnt get it. An Post could not prove they delivered though they were certain it did get there???? that said they pointed out pixmania often do this sort of thing i.e. automatically claim they didnt receive it until the sendeer proves otherwise. Then last month I receive a note from pixmania saying they had received the product and forwarded it to manufacturer for inspection! Phew!!!! yesterday I got a mail saying manufacturer had rejected claim based on expiration of 1 year warranty and i had 3 options 1. Pay 364 euro for manufacturer repair 2. Pay 30euro and they send item back to me or 3. Do nothing and they will destroy item.

I tried to send a mail outlining that I had paid 48.80 for an extended warranty but hmm no way really of contacting them except through some FAQ nonsense that allows you lmited characters to explain situation. All extremely unsatisfactory. needless to say i now know the error of my ways purchasing from pixmania. Have been an extremely good customer of theirs too. let this be a lesson to others not to fall for the same trick. Just curious though, I surely have some recourse here re:paying for a warranty that it seems they never registered with the manufacturer, at least based on the fact the manufacturer refuses to inspect the item?

This is standard Pixmania, they are fine if nothing goes wrong!

As you have no response here, try the Curries & PC World forum, they are the same company so their staff can contact PixMania on your behalf.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

I ordered two external drives from them, and paid extra for express delivery 24-28hrs. 4 days later nothing, I got in touch and was told they dont even have them in stock. I checked the website again and they are still listed as in stock!
I wont ever ever use them again and I advise anyone to stay well clear.

Anything worth over 50 quid should be sent by registered post. This means that An Post will ask for a signature from Pixmania when they deliver the item.

This signature then goes onto An Post's system and you can request a copy of it at any time. It's proof that they recieved the item. Pixmania would be unable to try and pull this crap. This is what the registered post facility is for. You should use it.

It's common sense when posting large, expensive items to pay a few euro more on the postage.

thats a pity, I've been using them for at least 4/5 yrs and touch wood never once encountered a problem with either goods or delivery but I've read tons of posts about bad service so it seems when its good its good but when it goes bad it goes very bad, I'd say the extended warranty is from pixmania rather than the manufacturer ?

Took them months to acknowledge a return I had sent back with DHL, despite me providing a POD with signature......Friggin' nightmare company to deal with.

They started off as one of the first specialist camera retailers on the web - hence the name. The goods were dispatched from France so you often got the camera with a French user's manual and a French plug on the charger but they usually included a UK adapter. In fact I once ordered two SD memory cards from them and they kindly shipped them with two UK adapters!

They were subsequently taken over by DSG, the parent company of Dixons/PC World/Currys who promptly moved the customer care centre to Romania and the service rapidly went downhill as multiple threads on boards will testify.

They finally get back to me saying its an issue with the lamp which is not covered by the guarantee. Lookin for 30 quid to return the projector to me. Funny thing is i was reluctant to send it to them originallly as i suspected a lamp issue but they insisted this was their way of doing things! Crap company, i will never ever ever purchase anything from them again. Lesson learned I guess.

You do realise that with a chargeback, the bank cancels your card, and then give the company an opportunity to challenge it? Happened to em when Dabs had charged my CC incorrectly, and it took about 6 weeks to sort out, and only after they could see the shipping/billing address was wrong.

good point and worth noting every time someone flippantly suggests to 'do a chargeback'! It's not as straightforward as people foolishly make it out to be.

Yep these are cowboy outfit. Bought an expensive camera and a large memory card at christmas from pixmania.ie. The card would not work with the camera so I contacted their 'customer line' immediately but to no reply, acknowledge etc received after numerous trys. So needless to say will NEVER use these comboys again !! Will post on as many websites as possible !!! :-)

I have bought a good bit of stuff of them and never had any probs but
I've heard so much bad stuff that i wont be dealing with them again. They screwed a good friend on a mp3 player and he gave up on a refund.

dabs.ie gave me a full refund on a 700e graphics card 34months after i bought it off them!no problems at all.
so there allways my fist port of call for this sort of stuff.

I also found the customer service terrible to deal with.
I put in an order with two items at the start of December and was given an estimated delivery date of between the 14th and 18th of December.
Now I know this is close to Christmas and I wouldn't have minded if it was a bit late or what ever, but anyway I got an email telling me one of the items had been dispatched. That item arrived.. and then nothing.
After Christmas I ended up emailing customer service.. They told me the item was out of stock and that I could ask for a refund or wait..
So now we are at the start of a new year and I still have half a Christmas present to give.

I wouldn't mind any of this if they had bothered to tell me. All through the purchasing and confirmation and even when I got an email saying the first item was dispatched, nothing was said about stock issues or that the second item wouldn't be available till some time in the new year.

The fact that they were very efficient in taking the money out of my account the second I had placed the order but completely incapable of informing me that they couldn't deliver the product I paid for has left me very disappointed.
When I eventually get the remainder of my order I will be deleting my account and looking elsewhere in future.
Sad to say but if they cant deal with their customer service when something goes wrong I dont know how they expect to keep a customer base going forward.

I bought a tablet on Pixmanis in February, decided to pat the extra for a 8GB model as opposed to a 4GB item. It arrived within a week, however they had sent the cheaper 4GB model. I complained through the 'contact us' box on their website and received an email reply telling me to contact MEMWAH as they had fulfilled the order. So I contacted MEMWAH. What a disaster! They wanted photos of the tablet to prove I'd got the wrong model. Three times I emailed photos and they denied receiving the emails. They got every other email I sent them though. Eventually I uploaded the photos to Dropbox and sent them the link. They eventually agreed to replace the tablet so I sent it by registered post and I waited. And waited. They blamed the weather for being unable to get stock in and out of their warehouse. Eventually, the replacement tablet arrived. Incredibly they sent me another 4GB model! More emails, they finally agreed to refund me. I returned the second tablet and they eventually refunded me. I'm still waiting for the cost of registered post to be returned to me. It took over two stressful months and many emails to get my money back. MEMWAH are a disaster of a company, steer well clear. They have a phone number on the Pixmania website which doesn't work. They obviously don't want to talk to their many disgruntled customers. Pixmanis are no better, they washed their hands of my problem as quick as they could.
