Lads, what auld bangers are out there - say around 1,500 quids worth - with good, firm seats in them? I have to change the Motor as my back can't stand these soft seats.

According to the first page of this thread, Volvo's aren't bad in this regard???

So any ideas fellas? Does the S40 have hardish seats?

Also, I'm going to put the Laguna up on DD. What do you think I should ask for it? Its an 03 with 90-odd K on it with a few months NCT and Tax. Clean Motor otherwise. Nothing wrong with it.

Volvo seats are harder alright the renault ones are very soft.
    Is the laguna a 1.6?

I would nt buy into the nonsense in this lads add about his car being anything special. I imagne he will get about 1400-1500 for this.

If yours is similar I would put in on DD for 1700 and hope for 1500.

My one is the very same as the first one there, same colour and all.

I've never sold a car (or bought one!) privately before. I've always bought off dealers and traded in my old yokes which all would have been on their last legs.
Hopefully the DD thing works out.

Selling the car will be handy. Pick the price you will accept. Put a few quid onto it. Put it on donedeal.
When someone comes looking at it dont let them talk your price down any more than what you are prepared to accept.

Where abouts in the country are you? Also when you have your ad up post it in bangernomics and the lads there can give you advice on your ad and price.

Will do mate. I'm in the north Dublin (Fingal) area.

Do you get many messers ringing up and taking the mick? When you put your number on the Net like that, you're bound to get a few clowns acting the maggot aren't you?

Also, should you sell the car from your house or ask to meet in a neutral venue? Or does it matter?

You will get people saying i ll call tomorrow and never come etc etc...
I suggest getting a sim card with a new number for selling the car and throw it away after.

Where you sell it from is up to you. I am in cork and if i was buying i would suggest we meet somewhere in the middle.
That said some people will insist in meeting you at your house to prove the address on the log book matches the owner. I would ask the owner to bring id and proof of address with them though.

There is no right or wrong answer to your questions though.

I really don't think selling a 2003 Laguna II will be handy. You could get lucky of course but I know hardened Renault fanatics who won't touch them out of fear.

I'd be realistic and say a price of 1000-1250 is what it will achieve. Lot of them on for 500+ and 900 will have you in one with tax and test. I was helping a friend to shop for them lately soon I've been keeping an eye on values.

That shape, colour and design but it has the lumbar adjusting control.
I don't see a lumbar support lever in that image. But yes, mine had those seats.

Til be handy sell it if yo have a good ad and the car has no issues as the poster said. Also 90K is low milage for the year.

Have you looked them up on dd? I think there is still a 2004 Laguna with 45k genuine miles at a maindealer for not much more than you reckon it'll sell.

You do know these cars are pretty much universally hated? I like them before anyone says anything but it must be admitted the are far from popular.

Not the car I reference above but it had about 25k lower miles, is a year newer and has lots of tax and test and is up for 1350 asking

    They're a hard sell.

Is this the one your talking about?
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2004-renault-laguna-nctd-yesterday/6516256
seems a bit cheap to me - I would be suspicious of the milage

No the one I'm talking about is gone as i just searched for it. It was at the supplying dealer and had a full RSH from them. A friend looked at it but didn't buy out of fear of them.

I know all back problems are different BUT, the mother's last 2 cars have been Fords which seem to agree with her back. Before that was Astras, they seemed to work for her as well.

Anything Japanese usually rips her back into shreds, it's such a shame, could be the best car in the world but if the seat isn't up to scratch, the car isn't up to scratch.

Ford seats wreck my back to the point where I have twice refused to take them as hire cars.

I agree with the second part in some circumstances, Toyota seats are a killer for me also.

What I said was I have those seats, but with a lumbar support control. I didn't say the one in the image has them. It is just a reference to the shape and design of the seats.

Anyway, it looks as if the VW of our vintage had an extra option on the Highlines to have lumbar support.
