Yeah she text me the wrong type she said springer when I went out. I have her here at my house and she's actually lovely. Friendly and playful. She ate a good bit of food there. A few of the lads out there said they have a feeling she was left there.

How could someone leave her there she's so lovely hopefully it was a mistake if not the pound in Waterford no longer put unclaimed dogs down and say she would be snapped up!

Yeah my mother already said she'll keep her if no one claims her. I put it on facebook and a friend said he would take her as well haha.

They're a lovely breed of dog and that one looks really nice. The best thing to do is take it to a vet and see if it's microchipped. Other than that you're hoping that someone reads boards or listens to WLR. At least then you might be able to find out for sure if someone is really missing the dog or just doesn't want it anymore.

Well done Dazftw and to your mam for taking in that lovely dog and nice to hear the nice comments from all the doggie lovers.

The dog is chipped. I just have to ring the Irish Kennel Club in the morning and hopefully find out who the owner is.

I'm guessing now that she was stolen and then abandoned maybe?

Perhaps but it could be one of several explanations. Did the dog have a collar on it?

Going by the dog's markings and even his posture in the photo, it probably has a pedigree hunting background. The white body and the dark head make it stand out and easily seen on the hunt or in competition. The stance is telling me that it has either been trained or has very good natural obedience coming through.

Dogs coming from that background would normally cost a few bob, wouldn't be too quick to abandon them - so not surprised by the chip. Even if a farmer or hunting person decided that it was no good, they'd almost certainly never abandon it - they'd normally find someone to give it to.

Hope you find the owner, as personally I think this dog may have been stolen...

I think you meant to post this in the cooking & recipes forum.

Just make sure in case it is abandoned that they really want it back in case the same thing happens again. I'm sure you'll know by their reaction if they do. Don'y know how anybody could abandon that lovely dog so hopefully it was'nt.
On the chipping thing I thought any vet would be able to get the details from the chip.

The owner came and collected the dog today. He found us from WLR, they have a lost and found on their site.

He said they had been out walking and his daughter was holding the lead when an Alsatian picked up the dog and threw it around. The daughter let go and the dog ran off. He had been looking for her everyday since.

    :)

Did the German Shepherd throw it around to such an extent that it knocked its collar off?

Lovely to have a happy ending. Well done dazftw.
