Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rough idling Rover 45

    Looking at a 02 Rover 45 that has been parked up for a couple of months. Had a flat battery.

    It idles quite roughly and engines shakes a bit. At first when I would put the hazards on the dashboard would turn off and back on. Now it doesn't do that but still a bit rough on the idling

    I presume the dash problem was just a low battery charge and that a good service should take car of the idling issue? Replace oil and filters or should I be cautious.

    rough ... you think it misfiring ? might have to change plugs and leads ? cant remember, is there coilpacks or distributor, could be faulty one of them.

    Wouldnt say its misfiring. Just engine vibrating quite a bit. A long spin might take care of it.

    How does it behave when it heats up under acceleration?

    It wouldn't be implausible to be an engine mount along with an ignition issue if the engine is vibrating a lot. I've had 3 four cylinder powered K series engines and never had a similar issue. I encountered one though that had a lumpy idle, it was on all original ignition components and the lumpy idle persisted after new coil, leads and plugs, a Forte engine flush coupled with wynns hydraulic tappet cleaner treatment sorted it, I have no clue which one did the trick but it was perfect afterwards.

    Impossible to diagnose really over the net as you can appreciate :)

    Unless it's really cheap though you might be better off waiting until a better example comes along.

    Had a rover 400. Went in holiday for 1 month. It did the same thing to me until I took it on a motorway. No problems after. Cleared everything. No problems after.

    Cool. Will take it on a nice long drive and see what happens. Just got off from the insurance company and they want an extra €105 to swap the insurance from 1.4 25 to 1.4 45 with only 2 months left on the policy. So might have to park the plans for a 45!
