Haven't been to the Abbey in years, and to be honest, when I used to go more often we would still have dinner and drinks on the southside and then head over just in time for the show.

Meeting a friend Thursday evening and the O'Connell St-ish area is handiest for a pre-show drink and chat. Can anyone recommend a bar that would be handy and pleasant...is the Life Bar in the Irish Life Centre still there and still ok?

The brand new Brew Dock (formerly Kates Cottage), its beside store Street Garda Station on the corner of Amiens Street and Store Street, its meant to be a nice pub, and if there other Pubs (Against the Grain and The Black Sheep) are anything to go by, it'll be good for a quiet drink.

Life is closed a long time now. Maybe Grand Central or Wynn's?

Madigans Lwr Abbey St is a hidden gem, only yards away from the Abbey too

    I'd go with Grand Central.

    Flowing Tide.

A favourite with both cast members and patrons of the Abbey for years.

Went to The Flowing Tide in the end. Perfect for what we needed - a few drinks and a chat. Thanks for the recommendations :)
