    Leaflet from the Gardai:

An Garda Síochána - Supporting Safer Communities
    • Half of Fatal Road Collisions happen between 4pm on Friday and 6am on Monday
    • A 1% reduction in speed = 2% fewer minor injury collisions, 3% fewer serious injuries collisions and 4% fewer fatal collisions
    • Alcohol and drugs impair your driving and increase the risk of collision (duh)
    • You are 4 times more likely to have a crash if you use your mobile phone while driving
    • In 1/3 of all burglaries, entry is gained through the front door - use mortice locks
    • Your home is most likely to be burgled on a Thursday or Friday
    • In 1/3 of all burglaries, entry is gained through an unsecured door or window (kinda contradicts the one above!)
    • Saturday is the most common day for thefts from parked cars - Always take your valuables with you and don't leave anything on display!!!
    • Midday to 9pm is the most common time for parked cars to be broken into - Lock your car at all times!
    • More than 3,000 bicycles were stolen in Dublin City last year - always secure your bike!

Most are obvious, but no harm putting them up anyway.

    Yeah most are obvious.

One thing I cannot fathom is this day and age is the number of women who put their handbags on the seat of shopping trollies or hanging from the hook in front of the seat and leave it unattended while getting stuff from the shelves.

As obvious as they are most people seem to forget them, especially when driving.
