Hit a pothole? With that sort of damage, I would be worrying about suspension damage too :(

I always prefer to call it "driver allowed his car to slid into sunken manhole cover" instead on "car slid into sunken manhole cover":D

Yeah they stopped selling them in 18" in 2006. These are one of a kind wheels of a Lotus carlton. Only 10 sets ever made for english market.:(

Did that happen in Kildare? Id rather avoid that road if at all possible...

One of my rear wheel caught the corner of a kerb the other day, cost me €190 for a new tyre due to side wall damage and a future trip to an alloy wheel refurbisher. The tyre that came off it only had about 6k miles on it.

some alloys are pure dirt. probably from china

Happened in dublin on a big steel manhole plate that crossed the road.

..cos they kept breaking whenever you hit a pothole with em.:) Very thin material in a lot of recent alloys - a mare for buckling and breaking. The older '80's ones were a lot sturdier but thats progress..
