Are Bank transfers safe?

    When selling online (website/ebay/done deal etc) is it safe to give out your bank account details for receipt of payment?

    I Know a few online businesses who recommend bank transfer as the best way to get paid and have their bank details on their website/Fb Stores (I think it is sent in an email at checkout) but am wary of going down that route.
    Any advice?

    Sort code and account number is on every cheque you write. So it's no more dangerous than that, really.
