Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This one snuck up on me a bit, Labour have dissolved into FG, they are going to feel the backlash reserved for junior parties at the next election.
FF are still radioactive so if you want to disagree with the government there's only one place to turn, Gerry's long game has paid off.
We'll be burning bondholders yet boys.

If Doctor Death ever gets into power here. I'll swim out of the country, let alone emigrate.

There will be a multi-party coalition and lots of fisticuffs and baseball batting in Leinster House. In the meantime all of the water-meters will be by-passed and it will be free pitchforks all round.

They won't be a majority party by a longshot. Regardless of the sentiment on boards, the electorate has shown that SF represent a super-socialist country, which people generally don't want. A large chunk of the electorate still remember the troubles in the north and so SF don't have their trust. They won't manage to erase their terrorist legacy for at least another 20 years.

However, they may likely become a party a 15% or even 20%, which would put them in the powerful position of being able to form a government with other parties. The problem with SF is that their policies sit in such opposition to the other major parties that I can't realistically see them forming a stable government with anyone else.

Their "groundbreaking" effect will most likely be SF's large party causing FF & FG to form a coalition government, which would be historic (and a little terrifying) in itself.

Don't be fooled into thinking that if SF got into power they wouldn't be as capable as the current shower of cúnts of lying to the electorate in the run up to the election. Big party politics all run on pretty much the same business model.

That's the most depressing outcome I could ever imagine. Just horrible.

Not a chance, they might be on the populist band wagon at the moment about austerity, stealth taxes and bailouts but plenty of centre right voters feel the same way about that.

Shinner idealogy would not become popular in this country where regardless of recent developments we're still overwhelmingly centrist, small enterprise, small farmer, progressive economy voters, who like making a few quid and enjoy moderate policies and regulation. Leaving aside the few characters who form the face of Sinn Féin, my feeling is theyve hit their ceiling

Fianna Fail and FG should go into a coalition to stop Sinn Fein at all costs.

I'm quite intrigued as to how the "Burn the bondholders, then hope they forget when we go cap in hand looking for €10+ billion to fund current spending, profit" plan is going to work out.

As long as Grizzly Adams and the other old-hats are part of the party they'll never even get close to power here. When those people start to die off I reckon that SF will let go of some of its more unrealistic ideals and settle into the political spectrum as a somewhat more centrist but still socialist leaning party.
