hi all just to put you wide to this <SNIP>. most of us buy the winning streak tickets and if we get 3 stars we send off the ticket as it clearly states " reveal 3 stars-enter draw for weekly TV game show".
ever wondered what happens after you spend 55c on a stamp and waste you time and energy going to the post box to post that precious envelope. heres your answer.
out of the thousands of weekly 3 star tickets that are received only 100 are picked out checked, verified and then entered into the draw. everything else is carefully destroyed.
not exactly what it says on the ticket .

There is a separate draw before the TV Programme. The tickets picked in the first draw are re-enveloped and put into a second draw.

You still have exactly the same (tiny) chance as you would if Marty selected the tickets out of all entries from a giant drum.

    I don't see any issue.

You get in the draw for the weekly TV show. It doesn't say the draw on the TV show.

There is absolutely no Consumer issue here. The OP has only stated what we all knew and what is widely advised by the National Lottery. This is just being pedantic.

    This is completely a non-issue.

Lets say 10000 people send in a ticket each week. If the 5 winning tickets were drawn straight out of that, as you'd prefer, your odds of winning are 5 in 10000.

However, the way it works is 100 tickets are drawn first. Your odds of being in that 100 are 100 in 10000, and then 5 in 100 in the live draw. Your total odds are therefore 500 in 100000, which is exactly the same as 5 in 10000.

    Same odds, no issue here.

Thread closed. There is no consumer issue here.

OP - as others have pointed out, every ticket is in with the same chance. They simply do a first draw to reduce the numbers. Imagine otherwise the huge container they would have to have. I believe that it also gives them a chance to label the tickets with a clear name and address, in order to help the announcer read the results.
