Came up with this, someone else will likely improve on it, will handle any game you throw at it, has a 6 core CPU, and 16GB of RAM for the editing. You may want to change the case if you don't like it.

I didn't add any monitors as when you have a budget like that you should go for some really good monitor(s) rather that a cheap 1080p one. Perhaps read through this thread.

Could fit three of them into the budget and still be like 200euro under.

That's some expensive motherboard, 6 dimm slots and all.
If TheGunns is willing to splash out so much on a system, why not get some higher frequency (& nicer looking) RAM such as 1600mhz? Tbh I'm not sure if it makes much of a difference, but we're talking pimped out system in this price bracket.

Also, maybe get an even better version of the topline card, such as this o/clocked one http://www2.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=58057&agid=1156. It even comes with an added backplate for even more heat management

Yeah, I was debating between the Gen4 and Gen7, but was still 1500 under budget at that time and just thought I might as well. ( I never even looked at Socket2011 boards before now, they're a lot more expensive, cheapest one was 168euro)

I've already cleared the basket from hwvs, but I thought I put different RAM in.

And sure, I just saw the Gigabyte one was quite cheap, and would be in stock soon compared to the rest of them so I picked that one.

Well I'm finalising my own pc build atm, and I have that o/c gtx680 card in mind, it doesn't seem to be in stock over in hwvs atm though. Delivery time > 7 days :mad:

Would 800W be increasing running costs unneccessily for this system though? the gpu recommends 550W supply, I'd have thought a 650W supply would be sufficient?

That case is nice though, I was thinking of the 500R carbide series for my own, not sure if the extra money for 600T graphite is worth the differnce though as they both seem to be good models

I knew the GPU only needed 550W, but wasn't sure if the CPU needed much or not, I thought as it was a very high end CPU it would need a lot. I was going to put in 650W one, but thought a 750W one would be best to be safe, but there is no 750W one so I just added the 800W one, I think the PSU also only uses the power needed.
It doesn't actually drain the full 800W, just whatever is needed to power everything. So even if he had a 1200W PSU, it would still be the same running cost as the likes of a 550W.

As I said, someone will likely improve on it. I was bored, and spent 10mins doing it.


Personally, with cases, I'm not a huge fan of simplicity. Never understood why everyone here loved the Fractal R3 cases. I like all the fancy gizmos, and lights. Personally, if I would choose a CoolerMaster Storm Trooper. Mainly because it looks awesome, and has a carrying handle. My parents are split so whenever I go to my dads I sometimes like to bring the PC, and a handle would be much handier than having to pack it all back up in its box again.

On every other forum I've been on everyone always recommends massive 850W PSUs, this seems to be the only place where people recommend as much as you need and no more

I'd be in between the simplicity of a Fractal and the madness of that Stormtrooper case, so the 500R (white of course) or Graphite 600T are beautiful cases in my eyes.

With this budget it has to go under water!
My recommendation would be a cosmos 2. Also a Platimax psu. Maybe a rampage 4 extreme mobo, and a larger ssd.

thanks for the help. i was wanting to use it for editing and producing but also for games and some work hence of budget size. not planning on buying another computer soon so want one that would last quite a while.

would anyone reccommend buying a mac and running windows through bootcamp? any idea on the performance? seems like that would fit as a lot of multimedia application are tailor made on macs. would games still work well?

I don't know op... Do you really want to splash 3k on build. As much as I love high end pcs, at this age you are way better off making down to earth high end pc and them have few upgrades later on. With left over money take misses on holidays.

How massive job you want to do with your pc? Whatever it is I am prety sure some nice highish end 2600k with solid z77, 16gb ram and 1 or 2 680 ( maybe even better 2x7970 as it had a beautifull price drop just now) will do the job for many years and will leave you a lot of money for holidays, drink amd arse.
No point splashing 300eu on mobo or 500eu on CPU which will be just a fraction faster then stuff you can get for half the price. In the end when new stuff comes out it will have a very low value no matter what you payed for.
I think someone in here with very expensive ram can tell you more about this.
