Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How many icons on your desktop?

I'm using the family PC here, and there are 82 items on the desktop,
27 folders (including 'New Folder' and 'New Folder (2)')
    about 15 pictures
    7 PDFs
9 shortcuts (I thought there would be more)
...and a whole lot of other stuff, i think people are afraid to delete things, because someone else might want them. Me, I'm just too lazy to tidy things up.

    How many on yours?

    27. 25 Applications. One "My Computer" and one "My documents".

    That was interesting.

My work PC has 96 icons at the moment. And that's after a major cleanup 3 weeks ago! :D
A lot of excel spreadsheets, and a lot of 3D models and drawings.

I'm in work so 10, but the screen was completely full when I started working here.

At home I have 1 icon - the recycle bin. I use rocket dock for everything else

None, I just click 'hide desktop icons' and use my pinned programs for commonly used programs, then unhide the icons for lesser used stuff

    Just 5. I hate clutter.

Just recycle bin in the bottom left corner. Nothing else.
There is no need for them to be there, the 3 main programs I use are pinned to my task bar, and the other main programs I use are pinned to my start menu.

An untidy desktop is horrible. I also know a few people who literally save everything to their desktops, and then have no idea how to find things when they go missing. Bad practice that is, got to keep your files organized.

*Unfounded assumption that pimps don't like desktop icons.

Thirty, I used to be far worse for having a rather cluttered screen but I've cleaned my act up. :)

At home ive just the recycle bin, a widget for the date, and a puzzle widget.

In work I had to temporarily log in on a generic username, it wasn't personalised, everyone fired stuff all over the place and I begged admin for my own log in asap, there was about 50 files that weren't named properly, like lighting schedule.. Yeah.. Bit for which bloody job!?

All the useless sub folders too, images of sockets with no reference to a job, it drove me mad, ended up I had to tidy it, I put everything in the recycle bin and if it wasn't needed in a month or so it was gone, nearly every file was on the system, stupid waste of space!

A lot, I keep all my recently downloaded tv shows on my desktop but im a bit behind.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,041 ✭✭✭cocoshovel

Also there shouldnt be a need to have to minimize everything when you want to access a file or something. Thats just awkward.

33 including the Recycle Bin. I normally keep everything on a separate partition but have been a bit lazy lately. Have to move them to where they should be.

Standard icons you have when you get your laptop, google chrome, 5 or 6 I think for my printer and 1 for for my 02 modem so about 12 in total I think.
