Anyone got a link for what the difference between a B1 C1, D1 etc mean?

For example, how much money is it got safe on your heating bills?
Is it a minor difference or a major difference?

    Thanks.

http://www.seai.ie/Your_Building/BER/Your_Guide_to_Building_Energy_Rating.pdf note that a BER rating can be out by anything up to circa 40% probably due to a lack of air-tightness..

Tim a Ber is a standardised method of assessing the energy performance of dwellings, this allows them to be comapred in terms of standardised performance when you are building buying or renting. It dosn't tell you what you can save as it dosn't take into account user usage patterns.

tim, if you have two A rated washine machines and you use on 3 times a day an dthe other once, its obvious which would cost more to run ;)

its the same with houses.... its all down to usage.

however what the BER system does is its a method to compare similar sized and aged buildings using an assumed usage pattern.
