    Hi all ,
Considering the Sorento as our next family motor. 2x kids 1x dog. Rural living. I'm driving a cheap car and like to have the family travelling in something a bit nicer/newer and all that. Mileage isn't huge on a daily basis but can occasionally be 100 miles round trip. Currently have family travelling around in a petrol Zafira which is fine but as with 2 kids don't really need the 7 seater and I'm a whore for changing ;)

The wife isn't too bothered at all she usually leaves it in my hands with things like this, as long as the car isn't hideous. She's gotten used to the high ride height having had a HRV and the Zafira and it is very welcome in the countryside.

Have liked the Sorento and have read mostly good things all round about them. Have me eye on 06 models, 3 on the watchlist atm:

It's in Galway as are we and has a-bar side steps but very little test left, Sept 12 and he's asking €5750

It's a good distance away but has almost 2 yrs test. Not sure about colour and no a-bar and side steps, €5750 again

One in Dublin that has appeared on dd before, the cheaper of the 3 and 2 yrs test.

Obviously I'd be trying to get either for alot less than asking but the one in Galway with such short test would want to come alot cheaper wouldn't it ?

Any owners or former owners of the Sorento's or mechanics with experience what should I be looking out for ? Are these difficult to sell at the moment ?

    Many thanks.

Also to add there will be no need for finance on the new purchase so one less thing to worry about.

Had a look at the car based Sorento yesterday, why can't sellers put a real effort into preparing a car for sale. It wasn't washed, nor hovered or polished. In this day and age I cannot understand why people don't spend an hour or two.

As well as that one had a look at this one:

a very nice example, but it's an auto and he wouldn't budge below 6k cash.

    The search goes on.

They are a fine jeep, but you do realise the Tax on those is €1005?

Yeah i do, i'm browsing dd again today looking at alternatives. Gonna go see an X-trail in an hour or two. Slightly cheaper to run, with lower tax and better mpg !!

Turbo's seem to be an issue on these , anyway of layman checking that ?
