Most of them who are on "non-Finuchan" type wages probably would, yeah. Will Leahy was a solicitor during the week back when he was only on the radio on Saturdays. Might still be part time, I'm not sure. A lot of them would have other jobs in the same company behind the scenes too, I guess.

A lot (including local DJs who work 5 days a week) supplement their income with club DJ-ing gigs too.

And some work behind the scenes on other shows, or work for smaller stations.

Lots of radio DJ's (be they prime time or weekend) tend to have things on the side. Take even the big name guys on Newstalk and the likes, most of them do articles for newspapers and such. Take the likes of Ray Foley, KC, Nikki Hayes, etc would be doing nightclub DJing at the weekends, and some do TV gigs as well.

And then you've the guys like Phil Cawley who are on standby for cover work, often they do behind the scenes stuff like running the desk for inexperienced DJ's or doing training or VO's and stuff.

It's very unlikely that you'd make a comfortable living doing just 3 hours a week.

On a local station in the south east there's 3 djs who do the early morning breakfast show and two of them do other bits such as sports news and entertainment for the same radio station.
