    Hi folks.

A few of us have recently set up a small sponsorship scheme for young Irish players, hoping to help 1 or 2 of them compete on the full PDC youth tour this year.

Weve got 18 people involved so far, including the likes of Michael o sullivan and Tony "Mr Darts" Hickey, who have each offered to sponsor 1 full weekends entries each (£90)

All the details are here on facebook, on the Darts in Ireland facebook page, hopefully some of you are interested, if so stick your name down.

Michael o Sullivan is holding the funds, as trustworthy as they come.

Heres hoping we can create a future Irish PDC star for the price of a glass of bud.

Well done, Dicie, on a great initiative to support our young players.

Hopefully, it will get the support of the Irish darting fraternity.

There was a great start by the Irish players over in Derby over the weekend in Event One of the 2012 PDC Unicorn Youth Tour.
136 players competed with Paddy Meaney, Ryan Maher and John Seagrave reaching the last 16 and picking up £75 each.
Meaney lost to the eventual runner-up, James Hubbard, while Martin Heneghan was beaten by the eventual winner, Arron Monk, in Round Three.
There was another great performance from Paddy in Event Two where he reached the last sixteen again and picked up another £75. James O'Connor was the next best Irish player - he was beaten 4 - 3 by Aiden Kirk in the 3rd. round.
Meaney made it a hat-trick of last 16 placings in Event Three and he is now in joint 7th. position on the Youth Tour Order of Merit.

Congratulations on a great job sponsoring youngsters going on the youth tour. Just want to know what a youth player needs to do to be in with a chance of sponsorship?

Just put your name forward so the people in the group can do a bit of homework on them.

Ryan Maher won this vote, and has got £90 entry fees and €150 towards expenses for the youth tour weekend in Barnsley in July.

Fair play to all that are backing this idea, for as little as €2.50 a week we can see one of our own try and achieve his dream

The sponsorship money was presented by Tony 'Mr.Darts' Hickey to Ryan Maher and John Seagrave at the Silver Springs Moran Hotel in Cork last Sunday.

Best of luck to the two players at the forthcoming PDC Unicorn Youth Tour weekends.
