2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? It will be a HTPC with the ability to run legal emulation such as mame so will need a bit of a push when it comes too the CPU

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Need pretty much everything

5. Do you need a monitor? no


5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? Will be used on a 1080p TV

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? no

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? yes

8. How can you pay? any method

9. When are you purchasing? in the next month

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? I got this

Basically what I need is a small factor pc such as mini itx or micro atx. I am thinking about going intel for the integrated graphics.

This machine will be used to run xbmc and a few legal emulators such as mame.

- Intel Build, much better CPU.
- 4GB RAM, if you want more you can double it for an extra tenner, doubt you'll need it though.
- H61 -M Motherboard. Basic.
- Same case
- 450W PSU, completely overkill, you can drop to a cheaper one, but I'd stick with the 450W. You never know, someday you might want to put a cheap GPU into it so you can do some gaming.

The Intel Core i3-2105 Box, LGA1155 is 116,52 € and got hd 3000 graphics.
The i5 2400 got 2000 graphics and is 166,45 € so you might be able to save some there?

This is what I would like to know aswell. Will the intel graphics beat the amd. I know intel will beat it in CPU power but gpu?

i think for the sake of a couple of days wait for ivy bridge to come out...the HD 4000 graphics sees almost 50% performance increase on the currrent crop.. and the'll prob be similar in price...if you are going for Sandybridge I'd go for the HD 3000 models ie i3 2105/2125..

That's a good point, I won't be building this for a few weeks anyway.

I wonder if the 4000 graphics will beat the amd graphics
