Just wondering if anyone else is doing this event?

I know it's on the same weekend as Valentia so most of the NS folks will be doing Valentia.

I'm not looking forward to OW in May but I entered all the same.

You racing it GIbbo? I need a race this weekend, well I don't need one but it would line up nicely, worth the drive down?

I am doing it Colm. I did the duathlon there a few weeks ago and the run course is really nice - through woodland. The bike is an out & back with a tasty 1.5km hill which goes down on the way out and up on the way back. Road surface isn't the best but then again it's the west of Ireland so it's the norm! I've no idea what the swim will be like but it's a fairly sheltered area so should be fine.

Same bike and run route as the Duathlon then?

Wave allocations and race briefing documents are now available on the website. Wish I was racing it, but alas.....

Hope everyone enjoyed the race yesterday. Tough conditions.

Kevin Thornton really blitzed the field. Impressive performance.

    Results are available on http://www.trilakes.ie

After Valentia on Saturday I'm still not sure what possessed me to race on Sunday, but I did.

The conditions were a world apart, instead of calm, flat, cold, clear sea water we got windy choppy, cold, dark, lake water. What was a tough swim was followed quickly by the only ever time I've had to push hard on a downhill cycle, the head wind was ferocious on the way out but this meant a nice tail wind and being able to spin on the big ring uphill coming back :D

The run was great with some nice loops through the woods before the finish.

All in all, a fantastic event, very well organised and a great competitors pack with T-shirt, medal and really nice trophies for those who got AG results.

Definitely one to do next year.

Yea it was a tough race and a really tough swim! well done to everyone. Anyone willing to put on the suit and take on the conditions yesterday deserves credit.

Great race. Swim was a bit of a washing machine and the outward leg of the bike was some slog into the wind.. the run made up for it all, lovely route.
