Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Time to pay fine

If a person was given the option of making a contribution to charity or receive a fine as the result of a case. They are given three months to pay the fine that was issued on the last day of January no peice of paper was given just a statement of three months to pay. On the 24th of April a notice is received saying a fine has now being imposed (double) and conviction stands,as fine is not paid in three months. Is this grounds for an appeal as this is not "three months" it is 6 days short of three months ?

    Thanks for any reply

3 months from what date? Surely the original date has a lot to factor in too.

And, why was it left until the very last days to pay?

I can't see much grounds for appeal.

Exactly 12 weeks from January 31st is 24th April. That can't be a coincidence.

You will need to ask a solicitor what 3 months means in legal parlance. Is a month 4 weeks, or does it refer to calendar months? I suspect the former.

Thanks Seamus, I suspect that is the pertinent question.
