    While Bus Eireann are the same as Irish Rail (which really annoys me, but anyway!) I know that my bus service at home allows the purchase of a return ticket to be used in any direction eg Dublin-Monaghan and back again or else Dublin - Monaghan times 2.

    Sounds like you're getting caught this time OP, an expensive lesson learnt. Let us know if your appeal is successful
