According to the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland's interest in Dempsey was actually just an inquiry before we tied up the signing of Adam Johnson. Villa have had a bid accepted now but it's still hard to see him not ending up at Anfield.

Seen a quote today for the Juve chief (could be wrong) that Bendtner wasn't the top class signing they wanted, but they had to strengthen their attack.
