Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Very. They will regret not pushing on having won the league last year.

They still have a really strong squad.

The five City signings mentioned earlier are meant to be Wright, Sinclair, Maicon, Javi García and Nastasic. Underwhelming?

Wright will never even make the bench
Sinclair will be an option from the bench
Maicon will be a huge signing IMO, just what he needed after stagnating at Inter
Javi Garcia is a great signing
Nastasic is being signed for the future no?

They had the strongest starting 11 last season, they are just bulking up their squad now.

No, their first 11 didnt need improving. Theyve improved their squad. They didnt need to go and buy a £30m midfielder or striker

Park Chu-Young signs for Celta Vigo on a season long loan from Arsenal with a view to a permanent transfer.

edit - completing his medical atm.

Is there such a thing as a first 11 these days?

I actually think this is a bit if a myth. The first eleven id unreal and they gave great strikers , but cover at CM and midfield is pretty poor considering their resources.

Hence them signing Rodwell and Javi Garcia

From a live deadline day blog on a QPR website I read:
DONE DEAL Charlie Adam signs a four year deal with Stoke City for a fee of £4m. Liverpool will continue to pay for his McDonalds meal deals for the first two years of the deal.

While getting shot of a guy who's twice as good as either. Take Yaya out and Rodwell, Garcia and Barry are kinda meh for a club wuth seemingly infinite resources.

Garcia and Barry are far from "meh"

Liverpool offer £40 Million to West Ham for Andy Carroll

i've seen this joke a fair few times now, and it would actually be kind of funny, if we'd sold him to West Ham.

as it is, it's unfunny, and a bit stupid IMO.

but sure, each to their own :D

Jermaine Jenas move to Sunderland which was on 10 minutes ago, is now off.

Knowing him he must have injured himself pushing the accelerator pedal while driving up.

I disagree. Letting NDJ go was crazy.

You also cobveniently ignored my point about their centre backs I notice.

Well, i hope he enjoys not getting picked for another season. Cause there's no way he's going to get into the team.

    ************BREAKING***************

Jong Il-Gwan was spotted at Newcastle airport just moments ago.

It seems Newcastle are determined to force through a move before the window shuts.

More on this story as it develops.

Strongest 11 maybe, as in your best 11 players, same thing really and City had the best 11 last year with decent options from the bench.

Maicon will be a good signing, Sinclair will offer something they dont have currently and Garcia will be a good addition too. City have spent wisely this window IMO, you need a good squad to compete for the whole season.

Stoke and Charlie Adam are a match made in heaven. A dirty player who can take a great set piece. I predict he'll go on to be a club legend.

Kompany, Lescott, Toure, Richards, Garcia can fill in there, Savic if he stays. They are pretty strong in every position.

I wouldnt be happy with Richards ir Garcia in there for any prolonged period. Toure and Savic are liabilities. The new kid Nastastic (sp) is unproven and one fir the future.

    They struggle badly without Kompany.

ssn need harry "wheeler dealer" redknapp in the studio....

or else in a range rover with harry outside the ssn carpark !!!!

i think iain dowie and dave "harry" bassett will be holding hands with jim white as we count down deadline day :(

No but hes a mudfirlder by trade first and foremost.

Which games in particular has he impressed you as a centre back?

Lloris, Vertoghen, Sigurdson, Dembele, Moutinhio, Adebayor .. Good window so far for Spurs even with losing Modric and VDV. Lets hope we can get another striker and wing cover in now before the window shuts!

Bargain, although hes probably on £120K + a week.

Still though, good buisness by City and will provide good attacking options in both FB positions now.
