    Football365:
'Andre Villas-Boas will change the face of Spurs with a £50million revolution to help him restore his battered reputation.'

Blimey. The paper claims AVB wants to spend some/all of that money on Marseille striker Loic Remy, Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen, Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, CSKA midfielder Alan Dzagoev, Birmingham keeper Jack Butland and possibly Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

However, don't get too excited too quickly Spurs fans - this money won't be coming out of Daniel Levy's petty cash draw - it will largely come from the sales of Luka Modric and Rafa van der Vaart.

Some tasty players in there! Would it be worth losing Luka and VDV?

I was hoping if we lose Modric we'd get Moutinho, but if we got the above players that'd be some improvement on the squad. Don't know much about Dzagoev or Butland, but the others are good signings. And as much as i love VDV, if he wants to go i'd be ok with it (as long as we get a good replacement).

I really hope AVB ships out some of the dead weight in the team though (Gomes, Bentley, Jenas etc..)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Antisocialiser

Yeh I wouldn't be that fussed on Dzagoev mainly because he is Russian and they all seem to flop in the PL.

Sigurdsson could be better than VDV and offers a more consistent and energetic approach to the role imo.

Butland was in the England squad for the euros but apart from that I know v little.

Moutinho would epic but would cost the same as we are likely to sell modders for... circa £30m.

Had a great stint on loan to Swansea during the season and Rogers wanted to bring him to Liverfool with him.

    Onwards and upwards

Huge potential, scored a dinger against us last year IIRC. Frozen out by new manager at Hoffenheim. Scores alot of goals. Repalcement for Vdv I presume....

I know very little of this guy too, but annoys me that his name is been thrown about the place. Last week Southampton had a £6m offer rejected.

For those of you who know less than me about him, he played 12 games on two different loan spells at Cheltenham. That's it.

Considering the age of our current goalkeeper, I wouldn't mind if we went for someone like Craig Gordon (free after being released by Sunderland) or Allan McGregor (we'd get him for next to nothing from Rangers). Both have far more experience than Butland and could learn a lot from Brad in the coming season before taking over the following season.

He basically ran the show for Swansea in the latter parts of the season last year and he's only 22! I think he's a fantastic addition to the team, one for the future and one for the now ;)

What I don't understand is why Hoffenheim rate him so lowly considering they ain't really the big shakes in the Bundesliga? 7 goals and 4 assists for Swansea in 18 appearances. And even better..... he can hit free kicks :)

    Good stuff.

He didnt settle in Germany and was injured for a good part of his time there.

You'd think we'd be finalizing the Vertonghen deal now what AVB has been confirmed. We really need another CB, and he'd be absolutely perfect for us.

Must admit to seeing very little of Sigurdsson, can only remember the Utd game which he didn’t have much of an impact in. Looking forward to seeing what he has to offer.

We finalised that deal already but he is in a contractual wrangle with Ajax about money they owe him.

What I mean is that we're not the ones holding the deal up. We have reached agreement with the player. Ajax want more money cos he says they owe him money. Not really great news!

7 goals in 19 apperance for swansea is some return for a midfielder.
Cant say I know much more than that..

completely agree. like i said in the first page of this thread, before alot of you had seen him during the euros, he would be a quality signing and an ideal replacement. very similar player, has the creativity. its too bad we couldnt hav gotten in there before the euros as his value has shot up. i'd still spend a good bit of the modric money on him though...

The Euro's wouldn't have increased his value at all, he didn't have a great tournament by his standards. Sure last summer Chelsea reportedly had a bid rejected of around €30 million, which is around the same as they want this summer. It's not like Moutinho has only discovered, his talents went noticed about 4 years ago and he's constantly being linked to big clubs, for Spurs to land him it would represent a massive coup.

lets hope with AVB at the helm there is a better chance we could sign him.

There is. Moutinho said he's a great manager and would play for him again tomorrow. Pretty sure it was him who said that or another Porto player. Probably him.
