Who knows about Hulk, could just be AVB being friendly with an ex player of his.

    From Football 365
The suggestion in the Evening Standard is that Emmanuel Adebayor could run down his contract at Manchester City rather than lose a few quid in wages by going to Tottenham. That makes us a little bit sad.

    :(

I wouldn't be too upset if Adebayor didn't sign with us, I would much prefer us to get a fresh new striker in. We definately need to strengthen the squad up front with a couple of consistent strikers.

I never really warmed to Adebayor, he runs hot and cold far too easily for me, when he's running hot he's great when he's not he's anonymous. We need to focus on bringing someone else in and hopefully it will be a big name 20+ goals a year striker would actually wants to play for the club.

Those are few and far between though.

Was it his 17 goals or his 11 assists that turned you?;)

No it's his attitude and his body language when he doesn't feel like playing up to the level he can. The thoughts of someone with such a changeable attitude being the highest paid player on the books grates with me.

I couldn't stomach the sight of someone of his quality putting in a half arsed performance because he isn't the mood, whilst being paid twice the amount of another player on the same team running his legs off and trying his hardest.

I don't like players like that even if they scored 17 goals and had 11 assists.

I used to be the same, the only players I respected were the ones who hared after the ball like men possessed. They were the ones who I saw as working as hard as they should be to have my support.

Players like Kanoute and Berbatov used to drive me mad with their languid style.

But I eventually came to realise that its just that different players have different styles. For instance Keano had that urgency and buzz about him but I'm not so sure that his work rate was actually better than Berbatov's. Some players channel their energy better.

Of course some players are actually lazy (eg. Pav), but I thought Adebayor worked very hard for us last season. Playing up front on your own is an energy sapping role and I thought he didn't shirk it and led the line well.

Maybe your right, I did think that Adebayor's statements and attitude were very positive and refreshing at the start of last season and he seemed to be full of enthusiasm but it seemd to wane over the course of the season. Maybe I'm expecting too much though.

See those? Results. Results are what matters. I couldn't give a toss about his "body language" as long as he produces, which he did last season.

Body language is a natural human expression.

Deal not dead for Lloris yet apparently.
Badly need something to happen soon on the striker front.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Antisocialiser

I've read that Levy wants him for 12m but Lyon want 16m for him. That's not a massive gap and if AVB really wants him I would wager we will have him!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,913 ✭✭✭Ormus

Kinda worrying reports about 3 moves hitting snags.

Florentino Perez has said Real won't pay more than €35m for Modric, while Levy wants £35m. We all know Levy won't budge, and rightly so. Really hope we don't end up selling him to an English club.

Adebayor sounds like he might be willing to run down his City contract rather than take a pay cut to join Spurs. Disappointing but then again I can't remember many players ever taking a pay cut. I would have been surprised. Not sure what happened with this talk of him getting a big signing on fee to supplement the wages. Maybe he figures he could get that anyway from some Arab club next year when he goes on a free.

We have bid £12m for Lloris but Lyon want £16m. Maybe we should go another 2m on this one. Maybe.

Guys look at this from a negotiating point of view. Maybe the Adebayor thing is a Daniel Levy ploy. He knows Man City want Adebayor off their wage bill, or else they can't get RVP. He knows that rumours linking RVP to a move to Unirah have grown stronger. So he tells Adebayor to tell Citeh that he's happy to see out his contract so he doesn't have to take a wage cut - thus, the only way Citeh can get rid of Adebayor is if Spurs pay him more or if Citeh agree to pay him the difference. The only way we can pay him more, is if they drop the asking price.

So... either (a.) they pay him the reported £3m a year difference or (b.) they drop his asking price, allowing us to give him a larger sign-on fee.

The RVP factor is paying off for us!

I'd go to £14 million for Lloris. He's a great keeper, and could be with us for years to come. If Ade would rather sit on the bench and get the money he's on, rather then be 1st choice striker at Spurs for reasonable wages, then i don't want him at the club. I like how he played last year, and he's been the best striker we've had for ages, but it's not worth smashing our wage cap for him.

And Modric cannot, under any circumstances, be sold to an English club. You do not sell your best player to a rival. If no one else offers the right amount, he stays right where he is.

Very sensible talk Kiith! We have Levy's successor right on this very forum!

If Ade would rather sit out his contract for the money then he's probably going to stop playing once he gets a contract from us.

Agreed on Modders and Lloris front too.

Results are good of course, but I still don't think Adebayor guarantees consistent results. I would not be surprised if once Ade is signed on big money and secure in a contract that he will become complacent and won't match the results he produced last season. Which therefore leads me to my original comment in which I stated that I would not be too disheartened if we didn't sign him.

I hope I am wrong of course!

Sign a striker, and sort out the Modric situation...

Jesus, it's last summer all over again :pac:

Excellent player but I don't think Fulham will let him go without a fight, especially if Dempsey goes to Liverpool.

I don't remember ever seeing Willian play.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Spurs have agreed a deal for Joao Moutinho and the transfer will be completed as soon as Luka Modric's exit is finalised.

Would be nice but I have to say I stand by Levy on this one. Make sure the price is right before we sell our most valuable asset.

Looks like Sahin is being kindly asked to move on!!

    SB @Realmadridplace7m
Mourinho: If there's a good chance for Şahin to play more minutes in another team, then he better leave. He barely played last year.

    SB ‏@Realmadridplace
Mourinho: Someone has to leave and I have to be honest with my players. Şahin is among the ones who may leave. [Record]

    SB ‏@Realmadridplace
Mourinho: Modric? I will only talk about my players, not players that belong to other clubs. [Record]

    SB ‏@Realmadridplace
Mourinho: What I can say is that Kaká is a Real Madrid player today and he may be one for another season. [Record]

    SB ‏@Realmadridplace
Mourinho: Kaká? The transfer market is open and anything can happen. [Record]

I wonder if this means anything in relation to Modric?
