Looking at the RM squad, they are thin enough on forwards so there's no way any of them will be coming in the other direction unless its Kaka who isnt good enough for Spurs apparently.

I never said he wasn't good enough. But for the money we would spend on him (with wages etc), I think we could get someone better.

Yeah Kaka is well past his best and has sky high wages.

In other news; a quote from Gio's agent, Vicente Montes:
"We have several options and we need to weigh them all up.

"The truth is that Gio has always wanted to play in La Liga or Serie A so that's what we're aiming for.

"A swap deal with Julio Cesar? Often journalists talk without knowing the truth, but that is not the case here.

"Inter is one of the possibilities, I can't deny that."

Julio Cesar, who has made over 200 appearances for Inter, winning the Champions League in 2010, has two years left to run on his contract at the San Siro.

Montes added: "Giovani wants the situation resolved as soon as possible and in the next few days we will try to find a solution, but negotiating with Tottenham is not easy.

"I would say it's 50% likely he'll go to Italy, 50% to Spain. There are other Italian clubs that want him and we're evaluating the offers."

Most likely BS but if true it smacks of desperation, which is worrying.

Valencia have rejected a mammoth offer from Tottenham to sign their star striker Roberto Soldado, according to reports in Spain.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is desperate to bolster his attacking options, with Jermain Defoe currently the only senior striker at his disposal after the failure to agree a permanent deal for Emmanuel Adebayor.

Valencian paper Superdeporte claim that Spurs were even willing to pay Soldado's €30million buyout-clause, but the player has no desire to leave his current side.

Soldado scored 27 goals in all competitions for Valencia last season, with his 17 goals in La Liga helping his side to a third-place finish.

That caught the attention of Tottenham but, with the player himself keen to remain at the Mestalla, Villas-Boas will be forced to continue his search for a new striker elsewhere.

why can't Adebayor just take a wage cut and come play for us!? He's already on ridiculous money and he knows he's wanted by us. Why don't sign him on loan again? If he stays sitting on the bench at City we'll all know he's a money grabbing w@nker

Seems to be a dispute with him and city rather then him and us also reports that he's been at the training ground for the last few days and we are waiting on City to release his registration to us.

I don't think its as clear cut as that.

He wants the extra money to make good on his commitments to various african charities apparently.

Damiao deal done according to Agent ITK. However he has some kind of a source at least, talksport.

I have to say, I'm definitely convinced by ITK's knowledge. Mostly calls things way before they happen.

Alot of his posts are Team X interested in Player Y and when it doesn't happen he gets abuse. Anytime I've seen him say Player ---> Team it's announced later.

Ade agreed terms with us a month ago. The dispute is between him and City. He wants to pocket the transfer fee.

Why has nobody suggested to Dan that he slap in a 8m bid for Berbatov?

Better than nothing and at least we know him and Defoe can play together.

Am seriously p1ssed off with the regression this summer. Selling Pav was a stupid mistake.

Pav was on big wages and was too lazy to play the lone striker role and wanted to leave. Right decision to sell him.

I'd prefer Bendtner over Berbatov, and that's not saying much.

No way would I take Berbatov back, lazy fcuker wants the ball gifted to his feet won't do the work

Spot on, we want to go forward, not backwards.

I concur; Pav was a brutal striker. Compare him to the work Ade does and he doesn't add up to dry dung.

Waiting for a big striker to do nothing but hit a wonder goal one in every five is how teams get relegated.

Now that Utd have Van Persie and Rooney plus at least 3/4 other forwards maybe we should put in a cheeky bid for Hernandez. I'm sure he's gonna get frustrated with his prospects of game time at Utd now.

Maybe he'll get more games up front with RVP with Rooney in midfield

Yeah possibly, but there's also Welbeck and Young there who could get a sniff ahead of him. Then Berbatov of course if he hasn't moved elsewhere (hopefully not to Spurs). I can see him getting frustrated this season.

Now is the time to move for Hernandez. Surely UTD would benifit from having him score for Spurs and help take points of their title rivals. Its not like we are gonna challenge them is it.

At least the club look like they are taking the striker signing seriously with the 30m Soldado bid.

Wouldn't be so sure on the Hernandez thing. For me he's another Defoe, savage finisher and always alive in the box but offers little outside of that.

Far better in the air than Defoe...

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,187 ✭✭✭jiltloop

I like him, his first season with Utd he looked great and was more consistent than Defoe would be. His 2nd season he never got fully fit and had a few injury problems, then Welbeck started to hit some form and Hernandez struggled to get a game.

He certainly has potential, I've always liked the look of him.

Hernandez is a far better footballer than Defoe, but he is still not strong enough for the lone striker role.

Not a chance we would get him anyway.
