huntelaar? - We've been linked with him before, although that was under previous managers. Would he suits AVB's style of play? (I have no idea tbh)

linked with adam johnson. personally i would like him at spurs. would be a great back up option on the wing. but that could be the stumbling block as i'm sure he would want to be in the starting 11.

I don't mind Johnson but i really hope we aren't even consider getting him before we get a striker.

Seriously, we have to make some headway on a striker this week.

I'd say if he came he would get his fair share of game time. Personally I'd love to have him. It's a long season with our finger in a lot of different pies, plus he'd push Lennon for a starting spot - so we might see Lennon improve too.

If we got Johnson, a creative midfielder (Moutinho) and a striker (Ade).... I'd be delighted with the Summer's dealings.

Strange rumours on twitter, first is bid rejected by Lazio for Hernanes second is Dzeko to spurs as long as Aguero's injury isn't bad.

I'd take Dzeko alright, but City would be short up front so I can't imagine that being true.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Also, surely we're past the 1st bid stage with players by now? If we're only making 1st bids I'm really worried.

I see we're being linked with a move for Chamakh.

    Has it come to this?

When I read the above I literally put my face into the palms of my hands and wept.

The chamak rumour is a farce no need to worry folks the mirror can jog on.

cant agree to be honest .... we need two strikers in as we all know that just Ade will never be enough, one injury or him getting the hump and were back to defoe?

Agreed, 2 are needed, couldn't believe it when I heard AVB say one would be enough.

The club must be in serious financial trouble, it just doesn't make sense to leave ourselves so short.

I think it's all smoke and mirrors, there is no way we would have Kane as 3rd striker considering we have Europa league football to play too.

Following a girl on twitter, posted pictures of herself meeting Steffen Freund, he told her Ade is a done deal and one more striker to come.

I think it's just Levy taking a calculated risk, drop one or two points at the start of the season vs paying over the odds.. To be fair to him we don't have €30m and €100k pw to throw at anyone and everyone...

why did we release Saha? We're screwed if we only sign one striker, im just praying that AVB and Levy have a trick up their sleeve. You just know Spurs are going to be extremely busy on the final day of the transfer window! If we haven't sorted out our strikers, I genuinely can see us signing Michael Owen

Yeah I hope you're right, it would be ludicrous to only sign one striker. I can't see us signing 2 top class strikers though, maybe Ade and a back up will have to do.

We should sign the Swansea scout... Gylfi replaced by goal machine Michu for €2m!

Bargain for them when he scored that many in La Liga last season. Little to lose and a lot to gain.

Early days yet but he looks like the bargain of the summer so far. 15 goals last season in La Liga from midfield, for £2m. No brainer. Strange price. Maybe there is a catch.

He only had a year left on his contract, Rayo weren't going to risk losing him for nothing.

Ah ok, I didn't know that. Still doesn't explain why bigger clubs weren't after him though. The likes of Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, even Liverpool.

Get Jenas out of the place by all means but not Huddlestone!

So AVB makes Dawson club captain, and then tells him he can leave?

I call bull**** by The Guardian.

Agreed, lazy journalism by all accounts. He’s an integral part of our setup.

Will they take Jenas and Bentley as well?

Let's just say we sign Adebayor, what would other people think of us putting a bid in for Jordan Rhodes? He's still only 22, he could work well up front with Defoe, if Adebayor gets injured, and he would score plenty of goals in the three cup competitions we're in. I'd say we could get him for £5m - my own speculation.

I didn't think one club could take two loanee's from a single club?
