Does anyone know this m'vila chap apart from football manager ?! Do we really need another defender midfielder with Sandro and Parker ? Prefer to put the money into Lloris, Damiao and a creative midfielder

Look at his creativity stats ;)

Is it sad that I'm enjoying this part of the transfer window more than the start of our season? :o

According to some in the SF anyway M'Vila has the potential to be one of the best DMs in the world, he was long sought after by Wenger but apparently he was turned off him because of his attitude, which obviously is a major turn off. Lloris would be an excellent signing, but, as mentioned before, I feel bad for Brad, he made such a big difference for us last year and he's still good enough to be playing week in week out, pity he's not 10 years younger! The talks of Willian (who I know nothing about) and Dembele are encouraging, but why are looking at these types of players?? Who we need is a Moutinho type.

On a side note, all this talk has me very happy, but I remember feeling this way a month ago and 2 months ago, so I hope for all this speculation that something actually happens!!

We'll have some team this time next week:

    Lloris

    Walker - Kaboul - Verthongen - BAE

    M'Vila - Moutinho - Dembele

    Willian - Damaio - Nani

Dude, you cant be serious? If that was are starting XI next week I'd be very annoyed and we'd get destroyed. You couldnt start 7 new players in one game - no matter who they are.

.. would be some squad to pick from thou!

I'm surprise Utd haven't bid for Dembele, or anyone else for that matter. He'd be my number one pick. Super engine, makes surging runs, tough as nails and won't cost a bomb. Add to that a striker and I'd be content.

I think his comment was very much tongue-in-cheek.

I still think we need 2 strikers and here we are bidding for 3 midfielders and a keeper.

I think if we ended up with Willian, Dembele and Lloris I'd be quite happy. I would be nervous of Ade getting injured or going to the ACN, but aside from that I think we'd have quite a young, strong and diverse team.

Dembele's performance against MU at the weekend was amazing. He reminded me of Yaya Toure and he'd be great for Spurs (as well as many other teams I'm sure!) alongside Sandro/Parker.

We need these 3 signings, or similar, otherwise this window will have been a complete failure and we will be seriously weaker than this time last year.

Im not sure i agree with this. We brought in Vertz, sig and Ade(permanently). WE lost King, Niko, Pienaar and modric. And out of those players only modric was regularly playing. All the others (Charlie, bassong etc) have been great business as far as im concerned. If only someone would take Jenas off the books now

I think if we add a goalie and AM/Striker well be in a strong position

Am I the only one who thinks the club should stay clear of Lloris? He has fantastic reflexes but his command of the area is at the other end of the scale. In every Lyon match that I have seen (and during a few internationals as well) he has really struggled to deal with crosses, corners and simple long punts up the field.

Without replacing Modric? Remember, Modric wasn't an attacking midfielder. He sat back and dictated play by getting the ball to those providing the assists, like Bale and Lennon. Currently, we don't have anybody who can do that aside from possibly VDV, but he's not as mobile (or effective in that role) as Modric.

While another striker or AM would be great, without directly replacing Modric we will struggle creatively. Dembele looks like someone who can collect the ball and bring it straight into the other half, laying it off for someone. I believe that this position is more important than any other at the moment, and an attacking midfielder (like Willian) is not what we need for it.

Tottenham Hotspur have targeted Moussa Dembélé of Fulham to reinforce their midfield after finally sanctioning the £30m sale of Luka Modric to Real Madrid, while they have had a €16m (£13m) offer accepted by Lyon for the goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

    Yes to both please!!

I agree with SuperSi. In the first two matches of the season, the most blatant missing piece was a striker/target man. We've sorted that out by signing Ade.

The next blatant problem was creativity from deep - turning defence in to attack. Both Livermore and Sandro picked the ball up from the centre backs (as they were supposed to), but neither has a range of passing sufficient to catch the opposing team off guard, something Modric made to look easy.

My dream scenario would see us pick up someone like Xabi Alonso. I've read reports of him wanting to return to the Premier League and now with this 'partnership' with Real Madrid..... watch this space. :D

I don't know enough about Lloris or M'Vila, but two friends of mine who know about the French League were gobsmacked to think M'Vila would ever consider coming to us. They say that he has the potential to be brilliant - think Patrick Vieira brilliant.

Whatever about Thudd and Dawson, if VDV goes I'll be pretty annoyed. I wonder if this is a non-story as I remember a short while ago someone posting quotes from a chance meeting with VDV whereby he said he loves it at Spurs? I really hope he doesn't go though - losing him and Modric in one season would be terrible for the team.

    Dembele talks opened? http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/dembele-to-kick-off-60m-spending-spree-at-tottenham-8084165.html

I've seen Afellay of Barcelona linked on loan as well. Would be a fine addition.

As much as I love VDV we have Gylfi for that role now... and possibly dembele.

The money could be distributed to better balance the squad.

Personally i think thudd is more than capable of playing there. Obviously injuries could be a problem and more importantly him being potentially shipped out. Thats why im annoyed hell be moving on

Ive not seen a huge amount of him but does dembele play in the middle of the park? I always thought he was slightly more advanced

If it was my choice I'd get Afelley on loan, forget about Dembele and invest that money in a proper replacement for Modric whether that be Moutinho, M'Vila etc.

Not that I'm dismissing Dembele, the club just has similar players already like Gylfi, VDV and dos Santos.

Dembele is nothing like the players you mention. Think Yaya Toure, only better.

Yaya toure is the best player in the premiership

Yes, I would agree. My "only better" comment was made in jest. The main point was that Dembele is more in the Yaya mould than he is like VDV or Siggy.

If we sign Dembele he would be playing alongside Sandro or Parker, with Siggy ahead of them. Dembele could be pushed further forward on occasion alright.

A number of pundits were purring over Dembele’s performance for Fulham at Manchester United on Saturday where he posted some interesting statistics..

Dembele completed 49 out of 50 passes, as well as completing 9 dribbles (Manchester United completed 8 dribbles collectively). So far this season he has completed the most dribbles in the Premier League (12).

    Luverly left foot.... COYS!
