Yeah maybe. In time. i'm not saying they are mercenaries per say (Well not in the Hernan Crespo, Robinho mould) but you cant gut a team of established players like that and expect the newbies to hit the ground running. I'd rather finished 4th with dawson, hudd, parker spitting blood, sweat and tears for the cause then have a bunch of blow-in's win the league.

I think we'd all rather that, but we've seen that these players weren't able to do just that without help.

Also, shamelessly stolen from Leiva on the soccer forum...love seeing people saying how it's a fantastic signing.

Can't wait to see Dembele take to the field in a Tottenham jersey. I believe he'll have a major impact over the next few seasons. Very excited.

    Football Agent ‏@FootballAgent49
Tottenham have agreed a fee of 20m plus add ons for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao.

FootballAgent49?? Jeez, I'd put more faith in the Star that someone with a username like that.. We've been fcuked over by Twitter too many times this summer to put any faith in that site..

I love this part.. This was been posted over in the soccer forum earlier on, shows up twitter - and all the ITK shíte-talkers - to be among the most unreliable of sites.
    Hey Guys,

I am writing to tell you that, no, I am not a 'Football Agent' or 'ITK.' I am infact an 18 year old and I have been fooling all of you gullible idiots with my fake stories for the past 2 months.

I started out when I was bored one evening and I never once thought that I could get 43k followers. I feel my twitter experience has been very successful with some of my 'Stories' even trending 5th in the world. I'm proud to say that I haven't had even one transfer scoop in my time yet people still say im more reliable than Sky Sports News and the BBC. Laughable.

Some of my personal highlights were the Kaka and Falcao stories which were completely made up. The Daily Mail even wrote an article based on my Kaka tweets and the 2 journalists who wrote it were following me. The Falcao story was possibly my favourite. Last night it was trending worldwide for over an hour and for over 3 hours in Spain and in the UK.

Another fascinating thing about my time on twitter was how some top respected journalists believed my rubbish and even used me as a news source.

Whilst I am here I can also point out there is no such thing as an ITK or Agent on twitter, anyone with an IQ in double figures would realise this. @Agent_NCP , @EPL_Source and @Agent_ITK are all just poor versions of myself who would be nothing without begging me for shoutouts. @Backpage is another clown who stole my fake stories everyday and passed them off as their own.

Im not sorry for wasting everybody's time, you should have realised I was a fake when I got all of my stories wrong and deleted countless tweets. I still cant believe that, I, personally have been trending in Manchester, Leeds, Ireland, Nigeria and South Africa. Perhaps I do feel a bit sorry for the guy who got 'Falcao 20' printed on his Chelsea top.

I have really enjoyed my time on twitter, especially winding up Everton and Tottenham fans on a daily basis. You idiots must have realised I was a fake when I linked your team with every player possible in the hope that one move would happen.

My time has now come to and end and I hope to enjoy the last few days of the transfer window without making up rumours myself. Thank you to whoever followed me and retweeted my garbage, it was really appreciated.

    Goodbye Everyone

    Regards, @FootballAgent49 (The Boss)

    Excellent signing.

While I have reservations about wholesale changes to our team these are exicting times for sure. Esp if we sign Lloris and willian too.

I'll say this quietly but there are a lot of similarities between our XI and the arsenal invincibles team of a few year back. A good mixture of power, pace, athletism and technicial gifted players but I think Ade is the weak link, we need a top striker for both competition and cover.

Yes, very gifted striker that can also play out wide. He's what we're missing. He missed the Euros through injury

Sky are running the story now too (I don't trust DM rumours until i see them elsewhere)

This is all coming together nicely indeed.
All aboard the Spurs Rollercoaster for the 12\13 season :D
I think this will be the most exciting premiership season yet with many teams able to compete with the big clubs.
Looks like Steve Clarke will do a good job at WBA.
Everton look strong. Where did they get the cash?
Chelsea are dark horses for the title?
    Rodgers has made good signings.
Laudrup could be a legend at Swansea this season.
Hope Chris gets the canaries going (Not this week though!) Dembele for 2! Superb signing.
Can Arsenal's signings score goals? I am sceptical! Come on Stoke ;)

I don't know how I'd feel about that. I really like Moutinho, but where would he fit and to get rid of VDV as well, who's one of our most creative players and scores important goals all the time? That's a little too much tbh. I'd gladly take Moutinho but not if it meant getting rid of VDV.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

I think it's more that VDV wants out, his wife works in Germany and they have a child. Anyway, he rarely played more than 60 mins under Redknapp. He needs to be replaced with someone who can. I'm not doubting his abilities, I'm a big fan, it's just we can get better

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,162 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

I don't want VDV to go, but if he wants to go back to Germany for family reasons, then i can't really say anything bad about it. He's been fantastic for us, and will remain a fan favourite for a long time. If he does go, and we get Moutinho and Remy, i'd say we'll be ok without him. Siggy, Dembele, and Moutinho would make a very good midfield, and with Sandro, Parker, Bale and Lennon already there, it'd be on of the best in the league.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,713 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

    Siggy and Dembele already in.
    Modric out.

If we sign Remy, Willian and Moutinho or even 2 of those 3 then we can wave good bye to VDV and probably Lennon and possibly parker.

    .. good replacement though.

Who'd have though our midfield needed such an overhaul, I always thought it was one of the best around and our strongest area.

Let vdv go, lazy and unfit

Scores goals but doesn't do enough . 29 years old , if we get 10 million then that's great bysiness

ah I wouldn't call him lazy and unfit but I do agree with you that it would be a good sale if we got £10 million for a 29 year old!

The metro have us negotiating a loan move for Ibrahim Afellay with Danny Rose heading out to Sunderland for the year.

What do we think? He's described on wiki as an attacking mid / winger.

I don't know much about other than that he's fast and was very highly rated before joining Barca but has had limited opportunities. I don't know whether that's because he's not good enough or whether he has better players ahead of him. To be fair, Danny Rose isn't likely to feature a huge amount for Spurs in the coming season so if that was viewed as a like-for-like change we'd actually be stronger.

  • Registered Users Posts: 471 ✭✭nipps

as much as i love VDV, i tink if we can get in moutinho and willian before the window shuts and VDV leaves we might be in a better position in midfield than before. VDV is a luxury player and maybe he doesnt fit AVBs system. also if VDV is going back to hamburg we should gt decent enough money for him.

in addition to this i think that if we can get in loris and remy/ other striker while offloading gomes/carlo, it will have been a successful window for us.(well ideally you could add bentley, jenas and dos santos to that list.) i dont know where these rumors about lennon and parker are coming from but i dont want them to leave. if our squad turns out like this we will actually have sufficient quality strength and depth.

We're awfully quiet on the transfer front in the last few hours.

    Any progress on Lloris?

    F*ck.

At least we have plenty of cover. Daws won't be leaving now. Not til January at least.

Oh, now I hear AVB has said that they will still listen to offers for Daws.

    Strange and worrying.

Bah! We really need another striker, and he would have been perfect.
