Sorry to see him go, and i'll always be fond of him. He was a class above anyone we had, and loved seeing him at the lane. Hope things go well for him.

    re: Berba

Well, at least its competition for Ade.
And he seems to be willing to sit on a bench as long as its not too often

Other then that I cant see the point in signing him.
Its not like he's known for his workrate or would suit AVB's perfered method of pressing the opposition high up the pitch.

I dont see this one having any real legs.

That's heavily photoshopped but apparently the deal is done as the two clubs negotiated overnight. Should be announced today.

Gutted that VDV is leaving. He's a player I genuinely enjoyed watching. I'll never forget how I felt when I found out he'd signed! I wish him the best and I hope we more than adequately replace him!!

Agree re VDV. Love watching him in a Spurs shirt. Pure class. Until its announced i will keep the faith and hope he remains a Spurs player.

If VDV has gone we will get moutinho I would forecast; and potentially a striker. Hamburg sold him for 13 million euro which is the same price we are allegedly selling him back for. It's decent money for a 29 year old tbh.

Still the man is a legend. Wish him all the best.... and Sylvie... can't forget Sylvie :D

Didn't they turn down a £60 million bid from Zenit? Somehow I doubt Levy will stretch to £65m :P

Levy might have said we will pay you £20m now and another £45 when he scored more goals than Pele but at that stage we will be selling him for £145m!

I'm in somewhat of a limbo with my feelings regarding the Berba/VDV

VDV - Great player, fantastic to watch, but a total luxury that won't fit in to the system and won't play many games, so probably best to get rid of him while he still has a price tag.

Berba - Left a bit acrimoniously, but made us £30m. He would be ideal cover for Adebayor as his ability to hold up the ball will bring the midfield/wingers in to the game. Though I doubt it will happen, Whiskey Nose just made a throw away comment - it doesn't mean Berba is at the lodge doing a medical.

The one thing about previous transfer deadline days when Harry was about is that we could have signed just about anyone on the final day - Come the 11pm/midnight deadline you didnt know who was going to appear holding a spurs jersey!

Lloris, Moutinho, Willian, Remy & Llorente.

Will we get any of these supposed top targets? I'd love 3 of them and with Jenas & VDV gone, who knows!! :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,633 ✭✭✭golfball37

Jenas won't leave Londodn for the north east so they are wasting their time. He hated living in Newcastle when he played for them. I'd drive him there if there was any possibility of it happening. I'd take Bentley for the spin too and drop him off at every club we pass.

I'd be shocked if we dont sign 1 of those 4 outfield players if VDV goes.

We should have £40 million (£27 million for Luca and £13 million for VDV), on top of whatever was in AVB's kitty, so we should have enough to get at least 2 of those. I'd hope for 3 (Lloris, Moutinho and Remy/Llorente), but i'd say we'll be doing well to get 2 players today. Can't see us bringing in anymore then that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,713 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

I'm not sure Remy is all he's cracked up to be. His goals/appearance record is 1 in 3 and he seems to be a striker to scores in hot streaks with periods in between where he doesnt score at all.

I'm only getting this from wiki and a few other pages. Anyone seen him play and think differently?

Edit - actually his record in recent seasons suggests he is better then 1 goal in 3 but it would want to be in the french league I suppose.

Adams to stoke. That probably puts an end to Hudd going there.

I'm no expert - but I think he has also spent a bit of time on the wing throughout his career. That could hamper his goalscoring ratio a bit.

It's a bloody joke, the same usual crap from Spurs.

jenas in talks with sunderland on permanent move, its highly llikely that he will reject terms and just stay on the bench in london. He has done it for years now

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,162 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

We should just stop putting him on the bench.

SSN: "Roberto Mancini has confirmed he is hoping Manchester City will announce five deals on Friday's transfer deadline day"

5 deals:eek:, Looks like we're not the only ones leaving it to the last minute.
There could be some serious money knocking around the top european clubs tonight!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

As long as they don't go after any of our targets. Once they become involved we don't have a chance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

How many goals did VDV get last season? We have to be eyeing a replacment for him now that he's gone, and a good one at that. Fair enough Gylfi can play in that role, but will he score as many goals?

Whoever comes in, we will not get as classy a finisher as Rafa, that is for sure.

With rafa on the way back to Hamburg and Kaboul out for at least 4 months i think we're gonna see at least 2 players come in,1 attacking midfielder and 1 defender.possibly a left back

VdV got 11 in 2,314 minutes = 210 mins per goal.

Siggy got 7 in 1,495 = 213 mins per goal.
