Yeah it'd be nice to get someone quality signed up before the Euro's but I wonder if this is another that's waiting on tomorrow's result? Although I vaguely remember reading something from him where he said the CL wasn't that important to his decision.

The off-season can sometimes be as exciting as an actual season when the big names start being mentioned, even if they almost always amount to nothing.

I'd love to see us look to Germany they have some fantastic players there and cost far less then those coming from Spain and England

Hoillett and Nzonzi looks like as good as we'll get now after a clear out

  • Registered Users Posts: 138 ✭✭yidweiser

Well we sure need some good signings now to cheer us up!
I think Modric and Bale are defo gone now but we must make good purchases and move on.
I haven't been this gutted since Everton knocked us out of the FA Cup Semi when Klinsmann played!
What is it with West Ham and our fortunes!
They get promotion and we miss out on CL :o
    Lasagne-gate 2!
    Boldly gutted.

I really dont think levy will let modric go.

He is under contract after all and unless a crazy 50 million offer comes in then i dont think he will be allowed leave

I dont see any big bids coming in for Modric, I feel his value peaked last summer.
Hoping that they sign a 20 goal a season striker and a reliable replacement for Ledley

Adios Bale, Modric VDV et al. If not this window then the next. Players have become too big for the club. Cant blame them for wanting to leave. Harry and Levy have now blown CL qualification 2 seasons in a row. We should have spent money in Jan and last summer and again we failed to capitalise on a golden opportunity that will not come again.

Arsenal have finally realised they need to spend money, Chelsea are going to invest massively, City and United are on a different planet to us. Even Pool are going to invest again and go for a new manager. We now dont have the money to invest and our players heads will have been turned after giving us another season this year.

We need to get rid of Harry ASAP and get in a manager who can work within the confines of a small budget .. something Harry cannot do. Martinez, Rodgers or Lambert please .. they can make a team more than the sum of their parts and that is exactly what we need now.

Rodgers and Lambert have had excellent first years in Pl, but so did Owen Coyle with Bolton:eek:
Martinez, AVB or even Pardew could do a job.
Agree with you on the investment side

Honestly can't see Bale leaving this summer, Modric I'll admit after last night may go but I'm sure Levy will drive a hard bargain for him if he is to be sold.

Hopefully Vertonghen will still join the club, he seemed quite enthusiastic about playing for Spurs.

The mirror have Modric to hand in a transfer request. Oh bother.

We aren't in the champions league and we don't pay top wages.

Any players who insist on either or both of those things are not realistic transfer targets.

Yeah I'm the same, I hear rumours but I wonder who will come in for him.

I'd say Fergie would like him but not sure United have much money to spend.

adebayor just tweeted..."loved my time at tottenham,we are working with the chairman to make it permanent, will keep you informed"
    fair play if it happens

Well that would be something positive. Levy won't take him if he's over-priced or over-waged so if he ends up at the club permanently it'll have been a good deal, regardless of whether we hear actual figures or not.

Now to sign another top class striker and get rid of Defoe who obviously doesn't figure in Harry's plans. And a winger and a CB of course!

Leandro, Vertonghen and Moses would be my dream scenario. Probably asking too much though.

All appear realistic, I have an awful feeling though that we might lose out on the centre half due to lack of CL, hope I'm wrong though.

I'm most worried about Vertonghen as well. He's exactly what we need, but he may well be put off by no CL.

I'm confident that the deal will be pushed through by the end of the week. Though I really think it should have been done before the CL final.

Hopefully Levy doesn't price us out of this deal. Though, if Ajax are really looking for €15.5 - it's probably a bit much for a lad in the last year of his contract.

I think I could live with Modric going IF:
    1 He leaves the country
2 All the money is reinvested. We could buy two strikers and a CB for little more than the money we would get for Luka, esp when added to the Pav/Palacios/Crouch money- another £30m .

Damieo, Remy, Vertonghen would leave a better balanced squad. Maybe Hoillett, esp if Pienaar is off.
For midfield, we have Sandro/Hudd/Parker/Livermore and in front VDV and Nico. Nico might relish playing further forward.
VDV and Modric seemed to spend the second half of the season getting in each others way. VDV could become our Lampard- playing in an advanced midfield role, passing and arriving late in the box.
This wouls allow us to keep Bale and Lennon, with Hoillett as back up.
I know this is starting to sound like football manager, but the point is selling Luka abroad, if he really wants out, could be good business. Set our price and see what happens, but ffs get the others in early.

Well thats a lot to take in but it makes a lotta sense. I can't think of many foreign clubs who would want or could afford Luka. Maybe Juve.

I think Niko surely wants to leave us at this stage and I don't blame him one bit. Actually if he wanted to stay I would assume it to be because he wants to run his contract down, or else he doesn't care about playing football anymore.

If Luke hands in a transfer request we should accept it on the proviso that our asking price is met, that he doesn't sign for Chelsea, and that if he leaves, he leaves within 2 weeks of the Euros finishing, or else stays another season.

Looks like Drogba will be leaving chelsea on a free.
Michael Owen is also been released.
Berbatov looks to have played his last game for utd.

Not really that exited about any of these 3 but they are all realistic targets for us.

Drogba isn't realistic and I don't want Owen, he has been happy at United for the last 2 years despite not playing, waster.

Berbatov. Shame on us if we welcome him back.

    1. Doubt Drogba would move across London. I think he is going to hit China and take a huge pay packet.

    2. Owen..............too many injuries.Maybe on a pay as you play deal and then he would be worth a punt.

    3. Berbatov...................i never want to see that sulky, moaning f*cktard anywhere near Spurs unless its Kaboul getting a tackle in. He can fook right of!!
