    Hopefully we're looking for a RB too, Walker can be a disaster at times

    Kyle Naughtons preferred position is right back and Kaboul can also play there. I think one left back signing is enough for defence as long as he can step up to the plate when needed. God knows I don't want Verts to be playin there again. CB is all I want to see.

    Edit: don't forget about Adam Smith either.

    I'm assuming Fryers is a fan given all the trouble he's gone through to get to play for the development team?
    He's from Manchester as well so it's not like he's moving home or anything either.

    He was upset with no first team football at united last season and told there'll be none this season either so I'm not so sure he joined on the presumption he'll be sat in the u21's squad for the next 6 months.

    I don't really see the point in this one. His Wiki page doesn't read very well but this video looks reasonable enough. He seems quite like Luka;

    Of course anyone can look good in a Youtube clip!

    Apparently a childhood united fan, they offered him a new contract, €2k a week and no first team football, especially since Buttner arrived.

    Probably unfair on him to jump ahead of the other development squad players, he's only 20. I'd say he'll rise through the ranks fairly quickly though, or at least we hope!

    He looks like he plays a little higher up the pitch than Luka. Here's a decent article on the proposed move, if he does sign it's probably down to the influence of Freund...

    Freund might actually have been his coach at underage level with Germany.

    I'm not sure if anyone here knows of that story from COYS where a lad was over at the World Cup and met Didier Zokora and Damien Comolli before the signing had been announced? He had photo's and everything :)

    Anyway, apparently this story is legitimate and from his Dad;
    UPDATE :

    have arrived now in Romania. so here we go this is exactly what happened.

    On the flight to Munich- and read the German papers Bild etc- looking for news about Holtby (front page story btw was Sylvie and Rafa splitting up)- read that he Holtby, had turned down Schalke's offer to double his wages and he would definitely not renew his contract. I was sitting in row 18 in the middle of the plane, and the steward says you can exit through the back door, so I turned around and to my astonishment, I saw the entire Schalke team had been sitting right behind me. they were on their way to Qatar btw, training camp etc. So I saw Holtby and thought I'll have a chat with him. Luckily we had to get a bus to the terminal, so i got in the bus went straight up to him, and told him I was a big big Tottenham fan, that I've just got back from the Reading game and that we've heard he might be coming to us. He smiled a bit and obviously didn't want to say anything, but Huntelaar- who was really nice, and friendly as the Dutch often are, just chipped in and said literally-"It's a done deal, all signed and sealed". Holtby looked a bit embarassed, and then said "well there'll be a statement in the next few days". He speaks perfect English btw-'cos his mother's English, without the trace of a any German accent.and then we started to talk about Tottenham and WHL and AVB. The conversation went like this: he told me, he'd been over for the West Ham game, and he was really surprised at how poor West Ham were as they are in the top half of the table. I told him that they are a home team, and don't perform away. I said that WHL is an old fashioned stadium, and he said he thinks that it's great, the atmosphere is unbelievable, and that he loved being there.Then we talked about the team, and it was obvious that he'd seen every game, and how impressed he's been. I said that I'd been a bit sceptical about AVB, because I thought Harry was so great, and he seemed surprised, saying that he's a great young coach. I agreed with him and said I've been won over, and think we're playing some really good football, which he agreed with too, and really thinks we have a lot of very good players. We talked a bit about the PL in general, and about the Chelsea/QPR game, which we both laughed about. Altogether we spoke for around ten minutes.

    I couldn't take any pictures 'cos the bus was so crowded, but I take it that people on here know who I am, and will trust me- but all in all. Expect him to arrive now or in the summer. I personally think it will be the summer, but everything today pointed towards him becoming a Spurs player. I got a great buzz from meeting him and Huntelaar- to whom I said. we've been waiting for you too, he laughed an said, you just keep waiting.

    Yeah I remember that story well about Zokora at the 2006 WC finals. Great stuff altogether. This Holtby one is interesting as well though if it had been me I'd of gone for glory and asked Huntelaar when he was signing for the mighty Spurs!

    3 fulls international caps, only 22 years old ...

    Looks like a lost cost alternative to Moutinho if you ask me.

    Looks like he plays a bit more advanced than Moutinho, no. 10 for Shalke?

    Freund rates him highly...

    So where's he gonna play for us? In behind the striker?

    U21 captain and leading them at the next euro's too. The more I read them more i like about this guy.

    Yeah, I assume he has been bought to play in the most attacking role of a midfield three.

    I won't be surprised if we're back to one up top next season, when AVB has been able to bring in his own players.

    Gotta laugh at this considering sky sports put an article up yesterday about Wenger being interested in him...

    Also this puts a downer on a potential AM signing this window.

    Great news! £0.5m signing on fee plus wages circa £67,000 being bandied about. Looks like a real cracker!

    Fergie can take a hike. Spouting BS as usual. Utd sold him to Liege. Liege own the player. We still had an interest and signed him from Liege. All completely legal.

    He's on about FIFA investigating the transfer. :rolleyes:

    "We expected that to be honest with you. How would you put it? To me, I think it's a blatant manipulation of the rules. Tottenham did nothing wrong as he went to Standard Liege. They tried to buy him off us and we'd been looking for a certain figure. They wouldn't pay it but asked if they could take him down there on trial and, at that time, he was out of contract in June anyway. So he went down on trial and he went to Portugal with them. They then said they weren't prepared to pay the money and, all of a sudden, he signed for Standard Liege. We knew immediately and suspected that he would return to Tottenham in January and that's happened. It's a [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy deal. You know, it's his fingerprints all over it. It's the kind of thing we expected he was going to do. There's nothing we can do about it but I think that really we should, first of all, register our discontent in it," he explained. "I think the league should look into it. I think the registration should be stopped until they investigate it thoroughly. There's bound to be a trail, either mobile phones or e-mails, that could give you the full story of it. I must say I'm disappointed in Tottenham. For whatever reason, a club that size has decided to go down this route. I'm disappointed."
