There is no rule against other fans posting here.

What fun is it just being in a big circle jerk with spurs fans?

This thread is for January transfer gossip. You are not posting about January transfer gossip. For the love of god....

Ah here lads for fcuk sake can we keep this thread about Spurs transfer gossip?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,290 ✭✭✭Leinstersqspur

Rumours around today that Huddlestone and Livermore are on their way out, the latter on loan.. This makes sense for Livermore as he will get limited game time now we have Parker back but is Huddlestone clearing a space in the squad for a new arrival?:cool:

    Sneijder or Moutinho please!

HR said in a press conference yesterday or Friday that he'd like to bring him in.
Seems to be a big fan of his. QPR have some amount of players on their books though. I'd like to see him get 10 or 12 on the bounce to see what he's made of ....

BILD: Asking price for Holtby just £1.6m if Tottenham are interested in signing him in January. Sporting director Heldt keen to offload him now.

Yeh this sounds like Daniel Levy all over!

Leandro Damaio rumours gathering pace. Gomes swap deal is becoming more widely talked about. Wish we'd just sign him and get it over with.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,381 ✭✭✭nbar12

Do you guys want Adebayor to go to the African cup of nations? I personally wouldn't mind seeing him leave because it'll force DL to spend some money on a striker which is hopefully Damaio

What if nothing happens with Damiao though? Bad situation then.

Well, the way he's playing at the moment he won't be missed. Still, it would be a terrible situation to be in having only 1 striker (and I know Dempsey can play there) and if this happens and Defoe gets injured, and we had the option to get Leandro, the blame will fall on Levy's shoulders if we fall short at the end of the season.

£1.6m for Holtby is a great price, but it's still £1.6m more than Levy will pay considering he can get him for free in the summer!! I wouldn't expect that one to happen.

I came across this site which has supposed contract ending times for each premier league club, not sure how accurate it is though, it says that Gallas and Jenas contracts end in 2013 and David Bentley, Brad Friedel and Younes Kabouls contracts end in 2014.

The above quote is stolen from the 'Contracts' thread, but.... based on the link about contracts ending would any of the ones ending this Summer take anyone's fancy??

I like the look of Lukaku. Though I'm not sure if the link suggests his WBA loan contract is up in the Summer, or if it's his Chelsea one. Surely if it was his Chelsea one we'd have heard more about it??

I'd still like Lukaku though. Looks like a rough diamond to me and gave our defenders a rough ride earlier in the season.

I wouldn't be surprised at all tbh.

Holtby's language in an interview I read was quite cryptic. He implied that it wasn't set in stone that he would be playing for Schalke for rest of season. He said something along the lines of for the moment I am here at Schalke for the rest of the season (that's me paraphrasing - can't rememer exactly where I saw it but at the time I thought to myself the door is open for an earlier move)

Schalke want rid of him now, they can't sell him to anyone but us. That £1.6m could be knocked down substantially. At the end of the day it will come down to how much would we (levy under the influence of AVB) be happy to pay to secure the services earlier. I can see a move happening but for less than the figures quoted.

Schalke got a good draw in the CL, they should get to the QF at the very least. It will be interesting to see if he'll join early?

I wonder if we pay the £1.6m would we have to pay the £500,000 signing on fee to the player in July?

Like if we could get £1.6m or thereabouts for Livermore or some of the others not cutting it you'd surely do the deal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

I'd say the £1.6m would be all we'd have to pay - no signing on fee after that. I'd imagine Thudd could go for a few mil which would offset the price. I reckon AVB will only let Jake go out on loan though.

We have agreed terms with the player so it's unlikely we could all of a sudden renege on the £500k.

Shalke's managing director Horst Heldt said: "If Tottenham ask for Holtby in the January window, we will talk to them about it. Nothing has happened yet, but, from our point of view, we are prepared to speak to them. It would have to be done quickly, because we would have to find a replacement for him."

My reading of that: Quick sale = The £1.6m is 'non-negotiable'

A phrase I doubt Levy is very familiar with;)

A striker and a creative midfielder are the only areas were I think we need to improve.
I'm assuming Holtby is meant to be resolving the latter and all these complex negotiations for Damiao to resolve the former.

It's a shame Damiao is owned by so many different groups it makes it difficult to strike a deal.

im only interested when i read that the player starts talking.

Lukaku joined Chelsea in 2011 for £20m approx. and on a 5 year contract. That is regarding his West Brom loan deal that the contract ends in the summer. He's far too valuable to Chelsea to let his contract run down and he only joined mid 2011 so wouldn't have signe a short contract like that.

No quotes etc. seems more like a calculated guess based off of whats trending in the papers.

I typically scan an article quickly to look for quotes before bothering reading it, otherwise the article shouldn't be treated seriously.

re: Lukaku - I'm not sure he's the answer. i've been following him closely this season as I have him on my FF teams and while he does terrorise defenses he needs far too many chances before he scores - and we have enough of that already - he's like a cross between Drogba and Defoe. I still wouldnt no to him though.

Sky Sports just quoted the Togolese FA 'Adebayor has reconsidered his position and will link up with the squad for the ACN'

    +1

I do the exact same. There's so many transfer articles etc. to go through that it's not worth reading one if it hasn't got a direct quote.

Doubt Chelsea would let him go, could be a star in the future I would suspect.

The only question Daniel Levy and AVB need to answer is whether Holtby is gonna be the difference between finishing in the top 4/3/2 or not. If he is then £1.6m plus wages for 6 months is nothing. Infact if they decide not to sign him now my thoughts on whether AVB believed he can have a good impact at Spurs will change negatively.

Considering £1.6m plus approx. £1.9m in wages isn't that much money in PL football these days my opinion would be that they would be fools not to take the chance if Holtby wants to move.
