Since we have got our golden lab he has always had this green like puss on his penis on the out side of it.

We brought him to a vet and he said It looked like he was producing too much semen.

    Does this sound right

Had the same thing with my dog, little green tell tale drops on the floor - quite normal, think it's called smegma - vet is right , as soon as my dog was neutered there was no more of it.

If the puss is green then it usually indicates infection. I would get a second opinion if you arent happy with your own vet.

Is it there all the time?

It varies greatly between practices so ring around. Also the larger the dog the more expensive it is. If your on certain benefits you can get it done under the dog trust scheme for €20. For a lab it's probably around €100.

Got our 20kg lab spayed and it cost €180 so depends on how much he weighs.
