City can afford to sing the best players in the world and now with an FA Cup and Premier League win under their belts have proved they have what it takes to win trophies.

I'd certainly classify them as a big club.

More like clubs on steroids, yes they're big at the moment but take away the sugar daddys and some of the stars and after a year a lot of fanbase will be looking elsewhere. The thing with united\liverpool\madrid\barca is they'll always have a huge following regardless of how they do, liverpool is going throuh a pretty bad patch and you can't throw a stone without hitting a supporter, the same with united in the 80's and early 90's. To me that defines a big club. Maybe after a few years if they're lucky enough to have roman and oil dude stay on they might get to the stage.

Sure, but Liverpool still being the big show doesn't mean that City or Chelsea aren't a big show in their own right - the reasons why might be different but the end result is the same.

Suppose it all depends on your definition of a big club.
They are a long way off being one of the biggest clubs in world football as was suggested.

They're nowhere near the stature of Liverpool or Arsenal who can't attract the biggest names and are not winning anything of note.

Support is scarce outside of Manchester,of course that will change with continued success but if United,Liverpool,Barca,Madrid,Milan,Munich etc. are considered big clubs then City are miles away.

Well I guess it depends what your definition of big club is.

A rich history with past successes.

Or being relevant at the top level of the game.

For me a big club is one that can attract the biggest players and compete for the biggest prizes. City tick both those boxes.

A bit of both would be my definition.
With the exception of Liverpool, all the clubs I mentioned have the rich history and the current relevance.

Yeah I guess you can say City are a "big club" at present but its purely down to their financial backing.

If they went bust in the morning would it be big news around the world? Not so sure.

United or Liverpool on the other hand...

They are now one of the biggest clubs in the world and look set to stay that way so long as the current owners keep the taps running. Would you dare to suggest that Chelsea "aren't a big club"?

he should just inivite Fergie, Mancini and RDM around for a game of musical chairs and have done with it!

(My moneys on Fergie, the sly old fox, slower than the other two, so he barely moves before the music stops!) :D

Any drop in form at City and he's out of the team. Chelsea is a tough one, may have an influx of young players coming in this summer also and should be challenging more in the PL (and indeed again in Europe) next season. May be played in an unfavourable position though. If I was him I'd actually go for Utd but still would be amazed if he didn't go to City

I think he'll sign for Hull myself.

How? The size of a club is not merely dictated by the finances it has available at present. If I pumped 10 billion into Scunthorpe tomorrow, they wouldn't suddenly be a big club, they'd just become a good team.

Chelsea are now a big club buddy. They've had at least a "good" team stretching back to the latter half of the nineties. A lot of history there and a bunch of fans picked up along the way.

He should sign for Ajax, that way he could do some moonlighting for even MORE cash in the Blue Light District when he's not busy playing football.

Seems a good fit for him.

A wasp supposedly landed on his jammy toast so now Hull City have been thrown into the mix.

Whichever of the three clubs he ends up at it's good to see that one of the best young players in the world sees England as a viable option again. It wasn't great to see players like Benzema, Sanchez and Ozil moving to Spain over the last 2-3 years.

Now the big old hazard swingometer is pointing to the CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!

    http://www.eurosport.fr/football/premier-league/2011-2012/hazard-vers-chelsea_sto3286877/story.shtml

Is @RBairner https://twitter.com/#!/RBairner reliable? This is what he tweeted.

Today's L'Equipe reports that #Hazard is closing in on a 5-year contract with #Chelsea. Big turnaround after Champions League final. #CFC

Dont underestimate the role the media are plating here also. he has probably only said a fraction of what has been printed and everything he says is being dissected to the core.
