    Hey,

I have my car up on carzone, I got a query today, a guy looking for the reg and chassis number. Kinda funny since you can since see the reg clearly from the pics. I'm wondering if it's ok to give out the chassis number? Any security concerns?

    Thanks
    Alan

Whatever about a reg, I wouldn't give out the chassis number over the phone. If he's serious about buying the car, he will come to look at it.

He might be genuine but I would have my concerns about that.

He probably wants it for a history check.

Tell him you don't feel comfortable about giving out the chassis number over the internet. Ask, if he likes, while he's viewing the car he is more than welcome to do the check then.

Other than that, tell him to take a hike.

Anybody that walks past your car in the street can see your chassis number, so why be worried about giving it out?

True but you'd feel worse for giving it to someone over the phone if they were going to use it for cloning or whatever than if they saw it in the street.

Get a spin in a Mazda 6 (same car) and a Focus ST (same turbo) and you'll know what it's like :pac:

Sadly no. I have to bend over and take the black pump in the tank!

Yeah they are lovely cars, the interiors are miles ahead of new Jap interiors too. I love the dash design in them!

Yeah the new Hyundai and even the Kia interiors are coming along a huge way.
    It's not a bad car the i40.
I imagine he'll have to leave down the car keys at some point, so enjoy the spin!

I've just been told that the Mazda6 I have a deposit on needs a new DPF. That can't be right after just 2 years can it??

This is exactly where the "savings" from buying a diesel all go to waste.

If it's been driven around town for two years with out a lot of motorway driving then that doesn't sound unusual. You still taking it?

What's the economy from the 2.2 like?
My mam says she gets about 45mpg from her 1.8 petrol.

That's true, I don't know, it depends on how fast they can replace.

The official mpg (*shudder*) figure is 51.4, I can't believe I'm talking in mpg :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

And reality what will that be? 49/48?
I'm totally playing the devils advocate here but is it worth it? :p

While the MPG might be better in the real world, the car itself won't, although you'll only be beaten in the smugness table by the EV and hybrid drivers.

Ah the car will be the finest! I've driven a few of them and I like them.

At least I'll be human in the diesel compared to the robots who drive EV's :pac:

At least you won't be missing the monster torque, you'll love the non stop torque from a diesel!!
Oh sorry it's a Mazda not a super TDI which stops the world!

There's a fair bit of torque from her alright but it lets go mid way into the rev range.

The super TDIs don't stop the world, they rotate it ;)
