Gaming PC for around 600-800 euro

Hey guys looking for some help in picking parts to build a new gaming pc, aiming to play games like GW2, Diablo 3, WoW, BF3, COD, SC2 etc

1. What is your budget? 600-800

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming mainly

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] Some old 250GB HDD's

5. Do you need a monitor? no

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Defo

8. How can you pay? Everything

9. When are you purchasing? Within the next month


So far ive found the following, but im not sure if they are the best i can get for their price, so if ye have any suggestions id love to hear them

What I really need as well is a case, power supply and hard drive
I usually play with headphones so would a sound card be necessary? I am not that bothered about it as I can allways add it in later on if i feel the need to?

- Good motherboard, if you plan on Crossfiring in the future you will need to spend more on the mobo, as this motherboard doesn't support it.
- Basic DVD Drive.
- Basic 8GB RAM kit, if you want one that looks better you could go for some of the crucial models, although the vengeance ones have massive heatspreaders that can get in the way of the CPU fan.
- Basic 1TB HDD, if you would prefer you could get a 64Gb SSD and use the 250GB HDD you have, that probably would be a better option.
- Good PSU, again, if you plan on crossfiring in the future you might as well get a higher wattage PSU now rather than later, although this one is plenty for the current build.
- Very good GPU, overclocks really well too.
- Brand new Ivy Bridge CPU, only came out a few days ago.
- Case is just a cheap-ish one I like. Considering its the most popular case on the site others like it too.
- Good CPU fan to let you overclock. Might want to wait and see how Ivy Bridge fares with overclocking. I haven't read much about it, but skimming through stuff the temps seem to get a lot higher with Ivy bridge when overclocking.


That build is set. Will play anything on the market now, and will last a few years.
You don't need a soundcard really, onboard sound is decent enough. Although if you have surround headphones you may want to invest in a 5.1/7.1 soundcard.

I like your suggestions, one question, I probably will want to Crossfire so what Watt PSU should I get? and if I was to spend more on the motherboard which would be a good choice?

This is a good motherboard, supports crossfire, and a few extra features over the Z68 board.

A 650W PSU would probably handle two 7850s fine. There is a 650W of the same model for 15euro extra, that would do fine.
Or you could go for a 750W, perhaps even a modular one if you want to keep it looking tidy.

I'd spend more on the case to be honest, one of the few things you'll be able to keep for years.

That PSU is fine, you don't need that much power but its fine to have it

I have it myself, its large, cheap, and keeps everything reasonably cool.
