What kind of horesepower would you need for a 3 ton rear discharge manure spreader? Think I might be in the market but not sure if I have adequate pulling power:confused:

70hp should do it i would say. 80 defo will anyway. thats if its a side spreader not sure about rear discharges. what tractor have you got? you might have to give it a few revs or it could stall if its at the lower hp side.

we have a 65hp massey.i would like to get something a little bigger (MF 185 is 75hp) but that'll be when funds allow.i really didn't think you would need something that big.:(

it would probably be alright but just dont take too much of a load. could you try any neighbours one before you buy it? is it a massey 165 or something?

no they're all barrel spreaders around this neck of the woods.we have a 4225 tractor.we wouldn't be doing a huge amount of work with it to be honest

65HP should be fine to drive that machine, we used to drive a 3 tonne Krone spreader with a 135 years ago without any hassle.

Hi, we have an Agrostroj Pelhřimov 3 ton spreader (also rear discharge) and we are currently pulling it with a 2010 Deutz-Fahr Agrolux 65 (62 HP with 4WD) and it is absolutely no problem, even in our hilly areas. We use it about once a month averaging about 10-15 loads until all of our manure is gone. It's equipped with single hose air brakes but the tractor isn't, so we don't use those....

    Don't be confused, you'll be fine ;)

we used to drive a 3t jf with a 135. The main thing was not to load dung at the back near the beaters so the 135 would have time to spin them up by the time the floor would have moved the 2 feet or so.

Ironically we traded it for a 10t twin axle job that needs 120hp+ to drive. nearly killed a jd 6400 on it for a couple of years.
