Replacement TH is Martin Mulhall (Kilkenny), also, I'm fairly sure the hooker is not Damien Butler.

He was the sub hooker for Belvo against Nure, so i guess it makes sense.

I don't know how good a player Robbie Collins is, but Leinster should certainly have a long look at him to see if there is a potential player in that 6'9 frame

Thanks, would be nice if he shot up another few inches before he stops growing.

Same goes for James Ryan, he is about 6'5 aswell.

James Ryan is taller. At least 6' 6". He'll be back in the team in September.

Jack Dwan is such a unit. This has the makings of a good team, always great to have new faces involved, especially lads like Butler who impressed hugely in the cup

He is and is a great player but from what i have heard he IS NOT U18 and will be playing in an U19 final trial next Sat somewhere in Dublin. Dont know what he was doing there yesterday TBH. Leinster guys must have been casting an eye over him. He was injured for most of the season and did not play any Rep rugby yet although clearly has the talent to do so.

Good to see squad rotation. Hope Delahunt has a good game at 2, very gifted player and can play across the front row. Parata is good, not better than McKeon but still good to see him getting a run.

Don't agree with you on Delahunt at hooker. Just isn't of the hooker mould and also his throwing wasn't that impressive. I think that Irish team have a fairly weak front row and I'm shocked they didn't scout more players from this years Senior Cup, especially with so many talented props and hookers on show. Dropping McKeon makes little sense as well. Very tidy out-half in my opinion, was just lacking game time.

Disagree Dealhunt is fine at hooker. Throwing has been fine from what ive seen of him playing 2
Parata is a good player and will be fine at 10. They've only 2 games so it gives Parata a chance to start after subbing behind McKeon on Wednesday.
No need to "scout" more from the senior cup. Squad is primarily based on the interpro series and unless you preform exceptionally with your club in top youths competitions/school in the schools cup you will not make the squad

Jesus he only switched there a few months back give him some time,he works very hard on his throwing with john fogarty, hes not going to be throwing darts like mealamu immediately you know. Mckeon was rotated not dropped, having a look at all options available is a great idea when you have the depth to do so

Amazing that there won't be a Leinster white team this year.
Lasted 2 seasons longer than Munster and Ulster did with 2 19s sides. Shame means 26-30 lads will miss out on representative rugby next season.
Pity as when all the provinces but Connacht fielded 2 19s sides it worked out well as there was 8 under 19 interpro sides with the exiles and Connacht fielding 1 side apiece.

Vinny Hammond told me that the game was brutal. Neither team played well, dreadfully stop start. Said Parata was alright. Delahunt was good afaik.

Its players who attend "independent schools" which are private schools like Eton, Harrow etc
Not schools players minus academy players

No idea yet. Offers are coming in for him though it depends what Uni he gets into I suppose, he should have been involved with Munster and Ireland 19s from what I can see this season. No idea why he wasn't.

well he had been in the initial extended Munster 19s squad last season and just couldn't make the side. see here
Not so sure he should have but he has a very good chance of playing 20s in September.

He's better than other Munster tighthead's in that squad. The Irish 19s lad isn't the best either.

To look at more players who were not in the system. Bigger base to pick the squad.
Those who played irish schools this year will prob dominate 19s squad but this trial game is to give more of those who didn't make the irish schools squad a chance to impress the 19s coaches

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭the baby bull elephant

Think Hugo Diepman could be an unknown to get into the squad.
