Tears more tears c'mon love you can do it, you are not on the line warning people to sat away from lenders, you are on the line because you want somebody to bail you out.

And the welfare officer etc would have furnished the house for her son etc if needed. There is more to this story than we are hearing, he is a money lending scumbag but there has to be more than this.

WTF is wrong with the RTE stream? It works for a minute and then stops.

Shes ringing up to get someone to pay off her debts....and someone will, they always fall for a sob story

She accepted a €2000 loan from a loan shark, with 250% interest. No sympathy whatsoever.

I can't understand what she is saying. Are they filtering her voice to disguise her identity?

To get her son and grandson house done up/a place to rent, its all a bit dodgy imo. If her son needed somewhere to live the welfare would have given rent etc and money for furniture.

"Are you a member of the Credit Union or the St Vincent de Paul"

Ones a financial organisation and the other is a charity.

No Joe her main reason for ringing in is to get money from the fund. Not to warn other people.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,978 ✭✭✭wyrn

I'm normally quite cynical of Liveline callers but I think some of the posters here are quite harsh. Yeah she was stupid to go to a loanshark but god help her, no one should go through this. Whatever her reasons for going on the show, if this puts off one person from going to a money lender, then fair play to her. I really find this quite harrowing, not what she says but what's in her voice. I'd hate for anyone in my family to have that desperation and fear in the voice.

I am at a loss for words to describe how I feel about these scumbag moneylenders.

Why oh why didn't she go to the Credit Union or a bank? :(

People need basic money handling skills to be taught in school.
