    School bucks

    Seapoint tragedy again

Tattooed footballers in the euros (think this could be a wind up call)

    Graveyards again

While it was tragic for those concerned, to describe the deaths of a woman and her 4 children from eating poisoned seafood 122 years ago as The Seapoint Tragedy is a bit tabloid and over the top.

Well it's back on again today, in the promo during Ronan collins joe asks "Are you a relative of the O'Connors who dies in The Seapoint Tradgedy" in the 19th century. WTF!!!

Also on, tatooed footballers ought to cover up as they are a bad influence ..........

and one relevant topic, the way schoolbooks are "revised" every couple of years and parents are forced to buy new ones. Simple answer to that is that the parents should get together and go to the teachers and tell them there is no need for the "new" book, but that would be too simple for Joe.

Incidentally Ronan Collins played Bohemian Rhapsody directly after Joe's promo, first lines are of course...

    "Is this the real life?
    Is this just fantasy?
    Caught in a landslide,
    No escape from reality"

we got some school books for the young lad earlier, he's starting primary school in september, 80 yoyo's for some books + 50 to rent another 3 books for the year on top of 80 for his uniform,

its an outrage joe, but instead of ringing you up to complain, will you lend me a few ''pound'' so i can pay for them, so he can get a good edge-a-cation and in time a well paid job like..say...presenting the liveline :)

Do the teachers get a kick back from the book company if they change books?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

School books, what have you spotted ?

The same fooking story that you've had on your show every year since you started on this show Joe.

Would we notice if Joe took the day off and just played back all shows on this story, I don't think so.

Ah the old school book racket. Why issue an cheap addendum every year when you can force people to buy new books for hundreds of euro?

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,403 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

    Religion book:rolleyes: Like why?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,003 ✭✭✭bijapos

The only way to stop it is to contact the teachers concerned, happened in a school in Galway where my cousins kids are.

Same goes for the uniform, up to the parents to contact the schools and get proper gear llowed, proper prices and proper agreed rules on what clothing is allowed. But for most people it's easier to whinge over the garden fence and Talk to Joe rather than do something proactive about it.

and there we are, the books changed at the behest of the publishers, not the dept or teachers.

In regards to The Seapoint tragedy, If I recall Joe brought that up with the guy from Glasnevin cemetery not the other way round. Yet another example of Joe's personal interest subject becomes the agenda.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,730 ✭✭✭europa11

    Joe sounds suitably bored.

Must be listening to the Show.

...waiting for the death/tragedy segment before he gets excited probably.
