I am currently listening to BBC Radio 3 at 56k via a preset on my hi-fi system.

This is streamed to the system from my UPC 25Mb router.

I also listen to it when working on my computer via this link....

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/

If you click on Radio 3 and then click Listen Live, it opens the Radio Player.

What I'd like to know is, what bit rate is the iPlayer playing the station at? I can't tell from looking at the iPlayer window, and I was hoping one of you guys/gals could. :o

If it's higher than 56k, I'd like to be able to change the URL on my hi-fi and
receive it at the higher rate. I know that BBC Radio 3 (and I think 4 also) is broadcast @ 320k.

I can listen to Radio Paradise @ 320k on my hi-fi and, when the DJ talks live, it's like he's in the room!

    Thanks in advance.

    D.

32kbps apparently, as reported by the flash player.
To check it yourself, open the player, and right-click on the "Play/Start" button.

You can listen to bbc r3 on 320k in itunes.

Just to to the radio section/classical and you will find it there.

Also here is a link to the stream:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r3_aaclca.pls

If you have an internet radio you should be able to add it no problem.

    dud45,

    Thanks for the reply.

    1. How can you tell that the iTunes signal is playing at 320k?

    2. Is the link you posted above one that will play at 320k also?

Please explain slowly for a non-techie.

    Thanks.

    D.

Just worked out how to show the bit rate via View/View Options
