Anybody know what one's go there and how long it normally takes on the bus. Starting employment out there soon. One of the few moving back to Ireland and not getting the hell out:D

It would make sense to minimise the number / distance of your trips.

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/?searchtype=place&searchquery=BlackrockRoute Description
4 From Harristown Towards Monkstown Avenue
7 From Mountjoy Sq. Towards Loughlinstown/Cherrywood
    7n D'Olier St. to Shankill
8 From Mountjoy Sq. Towards Dalkey
    17 Rialto to Blackrock
45 Merrion Square to Bray (Oldcourt)
46e From Blackrock Station Towards Mountjoy Sq.
    84n D'Olier St. Towards Greystones
114 From Ticknock Towards Blackrock Station
118 From Kilternan towards D'Olier St. Travel time should be about 25 minutes, but likely to be a bit more at peak times. Some of the above timetables have limited services.

You can also use the DART: www.irishrail.ie

Best options from all of those are the 4, 7 and 8.

The 4 or 7 bus would probably be your best bus options. But really the most convenient way to get to Blackrock from city centre is to get the Dart from Connolly/Tara/Pearse station.

There's the 4, 7 and 45. To be honest though with the amount of traffic on the Rock Road and Merrion Road I'd just take the Dart-far quicker and generally a lot more reliable.

Actually OP, where exactly in Blackrock will your work be? While Blackrock 'proper' is fairly big as it is, the post code for Blackrock is fecking massive-it streaches all the way from Blackrock College/Booterstown Avenue all the way out to Clonkeen Road junction with Dunnes Cornelscourt and all the way up Newtown Park Avenue and Carysfort Avenue.

If you're located on the N11 side of things the DART will be miles out of your way.

    +1 this is important.

Would cycling be an option? I am faster cycling in the morning than driving or any public transport. You have to take into account walking time to and from public transport and waiting time, i.e. if you have to be there 10mins early in case, then a 30min trip is really 40min.

City centre to blackrock is pretty much cycle lanes all the way now.
