Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

there's a sweet maker in Athlone - dunnes and supervalue stock their stuff (they're cheap enough and nothing special but still nice) - cough drops, jellies and other boiled hard sweets.

    Other then that

    Clove drops
    Moo Mints
Highland toffee bars (not irish but i like them)
    Black jacks
    liquorice all sorts

or send them a few spuds dipped in suger and tell them that's what we eat for sweets?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Nothingbetter2d

rhubarb and custard.... strawberry and icream boiled sweets.........ah they bring back memories.

and now to feel really old

half penny toffee mice covered in chocolate.

Have Family over there and all chocolate is welcome as theirs is very different from ours. Curly Wurly's go down well, Cadbury Buttons (milk/white), Sherbert Dib Dab's, any Irish Crisps but especially Tayto, Mint Areo's, Fry's Chocolate Cream.............you will have great fun putting this together!!:D:D:D

Not sure if good or bad news but the Oatfields sweet production was outsourced years ago. There'll still be plenty of Emeralds whether you stock up or not.

    Caffrey's Time Bars ftw.

An elderly relative of mine was asked for 'a small gratuity' when in a restaurant on his first visit stateside last month.

Apparently the look on the waiter's face was priceless when he promptly gave him a silvermint :pac:

*i will share more of his hilarious adventures stateside in other threads where appropriate.

I got a pack of them about two years ago in a little shop in Cavan. Hadn't seen them before that day, and I haven't seen them since. They were absolutely disgusting btw

I've been craving an iceberger for ages! There's a beer where I live in Canada called Iceberg and every time I order it I accidentally say Iceberger!

You can get Cadbury's here but its unreal expensive cause its imported. Crisps like Tayto, Meanies, Monster Munch, Burger Bites are great! The Kit Kat chunkies taste weird here, send those. And club milks, and bourbon biscuits and custard creams. Haven't seen any penguin bars. If you could get a battered sausage in there would be great.

What I really want is some dilutable drinks, they don't have them here but can't really post them :(

And of course the mandatory few Barry's tea bags. Everyone I talk to from home asks how I am for Barry's.

Apple Jacks, don't think they still make them though.

Mr.Chews your man but I think you only get them in the bags with those rubbish Swizzler sweets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,695 ✭✭✭Lisha

    Emeralds
    Scotclans
    Curlywurly bars
    galaxy mistrels
    cadbury mini eggs

They may sell cadbury's in USA and OZ but in my opinion they are totally different to what we have here. Different fat content so the choc wont melt so easily in the heat.
Hersheys choc tastes like puke as they put in a lot of butyric acid.
