You can setup an IMAP account with the standard mail app.

    To do it, do this:
    Sign in to outlook.com
Hits "Options" in top right, then hit "SeeAll Options".
Then hit the "Settings for POP, IMAP, and SMTP access... " link roughly in the middle of the page

These are the details of your account to simply set up an IMAP account.

Now go onto your phone, go into mail > and add a new account. I get the add account option by hitting the options button while in the default mail app.

After you enter in your credentials, hit "Manual Setup". Then hit "IMAP Account"

For the server, put in the details you got earlier form the website.
My details are below, your will probably be a different server.

    Server name: pod51013.outlook.com
    Port: 993
    Encryption (Security Type) method: SSL

That should would, it did for me.

    Edit:
This is also how you would setup an account in a email client, such as Thunderbird.
