Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Sad news,
Famed hip-hop trio the Beastie Boys are mourning the loss of their brother-in-rhyme Adam "MCA" Yauch, who died May 4 as a result of his battle with cancer, according to TMZ. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native was 47.

Fours years ago on July 20, 2009, Yauch announced he had been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his parotid gland. As a result of the disease, the Beastie Boys had postponed all tour dates and pushed back the release of their eighth studio album, originally titled Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 1, which was later released and titled Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2.

Oh, hell. The BBC has the story now, too. :(

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

Bummed out by this, my fav Beastie by miles, loved his voice, raspy goodness with them beats.

Rest assured he is chilling with Buddha tonight, and we all have the music.

Thoughts with his family and the Beasties at this tough time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,108 ✭✭✭RachaelVO

    Only 47!!!!

One of the most influential bands ever, without the Beastie Boys a whole lot of genres of music would probably not exist.

RIP - I hope where ever you are now, the party continues :(:(

    RIP Adam.

Superb bassist, his rapping was actually a plus I remember me n a pal actually climbed over the RDS to try n meet em, shimmied down to the ground where the sound of skateboards was but the shutter was well, shut.

Then to get in, there was a pile of puke beside an exit n I stood over it pretending I did it whilst my pal pointed it out to security. Worked; lost a shoe in the pit that night
