Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do we use the word 'like' too much?

A lot of people nowadays are finding it difficult to have a conversation without the use/overuse of the word 'like' in a sentence when describing something. I feel its usage really took off when the US comedy Friends was introduced in the mid 90's.
Do you think you use 'like' too much and do the overusers get on your nerves?

No, I don't use it. There again I be somewhat intelligent I do. I wouldn't converse with people who speak that way like.

No I don't overuse it but I'll admit to having developed bad "eh" and "like" habits.
So I'm a hypocrite because I hate hearing it being thrown into every sentence 3 times.

I've started finding it increasingly difficult to leave it out of what I'm saying especially when telling a story. I think almost everybody has fallen victim to saying "i was like.. and then i was like". I've been practicing though, now i like to say "Says I" or "I says". Something more Irish about it :pac:

I hate that ****en word like. Like you can't tell if a person was born and raised in Dublin or the USA from an accent anymore.

Like all bad things in life, it's Cork's fault.

Very common word up in Donegal. Probably due to our proximity to the north as nordies use it all the time.

I blame Facebook. And also Cork.
