I'm looking for a mechanic/body-shop down south (between Cork and Waterford, preferably) to repair a rusty front sill on a vintage car. It's not possible for me to obtain a replacement panel, so the rust will need cutting out and repairing that way.

Nobody around seems interested at all, help!

Bit far for me unfortunately, is my only car!
The car's a Viva Estate - according to the owner's club, there's no spare part for it... unless someone wants to prove me wrong?! :(

A sill panel for a 2door saloon should be the same,
and they should still be available,
and if not they are a fairly simple panel to replicate.
I got a new pair of Hadrian sills for my own Viva a few years back.

    Nice car BTW,
    always wanted an estate HC,
    very stylish:)

Really? Why'd they lie to me? Aargh! I've looked everywhere. Where did you get your panel? You mean the whole panel behind the front number plate?

http://www.crashrepairparts.com/parts/markid/2195/vauxhall_viva_1970_1979/body-repair-parts-and-panels?_ts=3729 here is alink for two door pattern sills made by Hadrian (well known for good pattern parts) , your complete sill is probably not rotten ,a good panel guy can easily cut out whats bad and weld in sections from the sill from a two door. £32 worth a shot.

And other links a little cheaper http://autopanels-castleford.co.uk/webpages/VAUXHALL/Vauxhall%20Viva%20HC.htm

So you're not looking for a sill but a front panel/valance ,Lucky you , here's a brand new GM/vauxhaul on ebay for a HC estate like yours , not cheap but if its the only one left in UK/IRL seems reasonable http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320845979967&clk_rvr_id=339845300394

So are these part-panel pieces? They're door sills...?
This could be a revelation for me! :) Though for some reason I'm yet to find a mechanic/bodyshop nearby who is interested in doing this for me!

£375 - I'm sure it's worth it, but is pricey... in terms of bodyshop prices, do you think it's not more cost effective to have someone cut the rust out for me and weld in new metal? Bearing in mind I haven't had anyone want to do the work for me yet, I've not had any prices on work yet.

The time involved and skill involved to patch repair a visible body panel would probaly end up costing you more than replacing the panel with this new one . Thats probably why you cant get anyone to touch it as forming repair patches and welding it in is very time consuming even the welding has to be done slowly to stop the panel warping due to heat plus most panel beaters wouldn't have and experience of forming repair sections but they can fit new panels.
I'd fit the new panel if it was my car for peace of mind and no body filler to crack in the future .
