Everton v Newcastle - CL spot
Man City v QPR - Title game
    Stoke v Bolton - Relegation
Sunderland v Man U - Barely title game unless city get some dodgy lasagne :(
Tottenham v Fulham - CL Spot
West Brom v Arsenal - CL Spot
    Wigan v wolves - Relegation

Which ones will sky take a gamble on and leave out ?

I know in the states, my mate says that they are showing all 10 games live!

I had a look at sky planner and they have only got 2 games (SS1+2) scheduled in, but I wonder will they do what they do for CL and have all games available on the red button!

    they will show QPR/City anyway.
might be no need for wigan/wolves if wigan beat blackburn tomorrow

    otherwise, it'll be tottenham/fulham i reckon

Sky will be contracted to whatever amount of games they had scheduled.

Wonder if ESPN / Setanta will have any?

Yep we're spoiled for choice over here, Fox are showing all games across all their sports channels. Can't wait for next weekend now!

I presume so but it just says "two of englands top flight clubs go head to head on the last day of the Barclays premier league". .

On SS2 it says "A match from the final day of the Barclays premier league" , that must be Liverpool v Swansea ! :D

its like this in a lot of countries.

In the Netherlands I could watch any game I wanted on the weekends over 6 or 7 channels.

You know during Skys game, they have a screen of their next televised game(s). I think earlier today they had the United and City games down.

Setanta usually have a game. Nothing that Sky or ESPN are showing though. They will end up showing Liverpool-Swansea

They will defo show those two games, but its hard to see them not showing any of the other relegation or CL spot games . .I think they will just red button it . .

Once there are 37 games played by everybody they will choose (cause chelsea and wigan might still be fighting for something!)

Id imagine sky usually keep around 4 games for final day (ie games they are allowed to show live), but I wonder if they would be able to strike some deal if there were much more games with something riding on them! Why wouldnt the EPL and the clubs want more tv revenue!

Pretty sure the number of games is settled at contract time. That is, they are contracted for x number of games and that's it. They get to pick and choose at various points in the season but the number is finite.

I agree, but I am Just curious what they would do if there was 7 awesome ties and they only could show 4 . . Surely it would be in everybodys interest to try and get them shown ? . .

No, the only peoples interest it would be in would be the viewers. The amount of live games shown in England is limited for very good reason.

Im not disputing that but you can see how tv can get games days and hours changed on a whim. Sure the FA cup final started at a differant time for money . . Nothing would surprise me tbh . .

Quite the opposite. It was changed to protect the attendances for 3 o clock kick offs.

Did'nt Italian Serie A suffer from too many games on TV. Attendences collapsed and teams revenue suffered. Were the moguls in PL thinking that far ahead ? Hard balance for teams between "foreign" fans and local fans.

There should be no balance. The local fans should always come first.

When Liverpool were top many years ago, a survey of our entire year was done. That is 5 classes, with 40 in each. It was almost half and half Liverpool-United. The liverpool were the new fans attracted to what they saw on TV and the Man Utd fans were there because their dads were fans years before. Not one of that class had ever travelled to a match.

These people are the core supporters outside of local support. We have all "forced" our kids to be the next generation.

The revenue stream then was large enough for both teams to travel to Ireland in the 80's. It is now important enough for each to travel to larger fansbases. It is very important to get "foreign" fans, to continue the TV revenue stream. RTE and their counterparts in other countries pay for the rights to the PL. This is fed down to the clubs.

There is a balance required between local and foreign support via TV.

I'm not saying football clubs shouldn't try and market themselves or whatever you want to call it, but it should never be at the expense of the local support so no need for balance. TV is arranged by the Premier League at present in a way that it doesn't impact local supporters, the way it should be done.

Setanta are showing a game, but it is not named on the Sky EPG yet.
