Players to watch

Just wondering if anyone is keeping an eye out for any particular players in our youth set-up?

Obviously I read the articles put up on the website and enjoyed what was on show when watching the videos from the NextGen tournament.

Though, has anyone been to many of the reserve/youth team games? Has anyone in particular stood out for you?

I hope Suly Coubilay gets a run out in the League Cup next year. Hopefully Adam Smith can add some depth to the squad. Will Harry Kane make it in the Premier League?

Or is this whole thread a waste of time because Harry will be our manager next season and he has no intention of using more than 15 players.

I thought Luongo was quality when I saw him against liverpool in the next gen. Hopefully a couple break through and we see them in them appearing for the first team in league cup games etc.. next season. Im not too sure about Kane, has he found his level with Millwall, in saying that, he's still very young.

Although your last line could well be what the future holds..

I would definitely like to see more synergy between our 'first team' and our 'league cup' team next season.

If you mention 'squad rotation' to Harry, we will bring up the point that a whole different team played in the Europa Cup/League Cup. But I don't think that did anything to positively motivate the players.

A player who shines while playing in the League Cup should be rewarded with a run-out in the first team the following match. I think you'd see the performance of the young players really improving, you'd see team spirit improving and thus you'd see our performance each tournament improving.

I think that Kane's progression at Millwall is positive and think that a young hungry decent striker alongside three big names would be good.
I also agree with the comments about squad rotation. Does everybody remember the comments about our squad depth at the start of season. We supposedly had the best substitute bench in the league. These claims died down as the season went on and most were not used. How much of the recent drop in form could be attributed to tiredness

It's not just tiredness, it's also motivation. If a player isn't at risk of losing his place, then his performance will naturally drop.

Harry needs to realise this if he's going to stay - or else next season, like this season and the season before that, we will drop a lot of points in the last ten matches.

what about parker, was rested and now cant get back in the team

What about him?

If anything, I think what your saying supports my point. Harry was forced to 'rest' Parker (due to his achilles) and as a result of that, Sandro has come in and is playing out of his skin to keep his place.

Guys, not sure if you follow the Cartilage Free Captain Spurs blog site. Anyway, one of the authors is doing a run down of the 20 best young players currently plying their trade at The Lane.

The only rules to the list are - the player must be under 21 and he can't have played too many games for the first team. These rules mean the likes of Caulker (too many games), Livermore (too many game and over 21) and Falque (over 21) will not be on the list.

He's putting a new one up each day, so I will update it here.

It's one guy's opinion, though it will give good information about the youth players. He's starting at number 20 and working his way up.

At the time of writing this post he's at number 18.

I think some of the write ups so far have been a bit harsh, maybe too honest. Though I'm happy Kenny McEvoy got a good write up. He looks good any time I've seen him. He reminds be of a young Damien Duff. Hopefully he can have a similar club and international career.

Age probably working against him Pritchard I reckon will be first.... trying to think of others that haven't been mentioned that would be top 5.
The 16 year old defender MILOS VELJKOVIC from Basel who's been playing u-21s for the last couple years.

I can only imagine the top two are Carroll (if he qualifies) and Pritchard. I'm struggling to work out number 3??

Roman Michael-Percil? He played well in the NextGen, but wasn't an automatic starter...

Ryan Fredericks? Decent RB/RW, but not better than Adam Smith.

Surely not Andros Townsend, I doubt he qualifies.
