    From RTE.ie;
    http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2012/0508/320041-fdsf/

    Spain's Carles Puyol could miss Euro 2012 after his club, Barcelona announced that he will require knee surgery. Puyol, 34, experienced discomfort after Saturday's 4-0 defeat of Espanyol and will now go under the knife.
    On the club's official website, Barca explained Puyol decided to "undergo an arthroscopy on 12 May" and that the approximate recuperation period is six weeks.
    The Republic of Ireland face the Spaniards in the Euros on Thursday, 14 June.
    Puyol is definitely out of Barca's final Primera Division game at Real Betis at the weekend and will also miss coach Pep Guardiola's last game in charge - the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao on 25 May.
    And his participation in Poland and Ukraine is also extremely doubtful.
    Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque will announce a provisional squad on 15 May which will then be whittled down when the final party is confirmed on 27 May.

    Thats 3 points in the bag for Ireland on the 14th anyway :rolleyes:

    Is Villa out of the Euros also? I thought he was due back for the Clasico a few weeks ago but no sign of him!

    I hope Villa doesn't make it. Spain will be along the lines of Barca imo without Villa and we could just do a Chelsea :cool:

    Contradicting reports from what I can see. Some say he hasn't a chance but the Spanish physio seems optimistic of him playing. Del Bosque won't make a decision until the very last minute.

    He might go but realistically, how sharp is he going to be. He's a fantastic player but I think we've already got our hands full if they bring Llorente, Soldado and Negredo!
